BIRCH CABINETS

I was contracted last month to build a set of kitchen base cabinets.

Today I had to go install them but first was the task of tearing out the old cabinets. Wouldn't have been too bad but they were covered in roaches...GROSS!

After getting the old cabinets out of there I found yet another surprise awaiting me.

It seems they had a pack rat living under their cabinets. I found clothes, stuffed animals, a fork, three butter knives and please don't tell @coquiunlimited I even found a big butcher knife (I don't need her using that on me). I filled there garbage can to the point of overflowing with all the mess hiding under their old cabinets.

Got the new cabinets in and the counter top. I had to crawl under the house to feed the water lines back up and into the new sink cabinet. They have three very friendly dogs that were dropped off and won't leave. Now I do like dogs and these three are young enough to still be extremely playful. They followed me under the house and had to crawl all over me while I was working with the pvc pipes. Washing my face, trying to chew on my hands and having a fight on top of me because they all wanted solo attention. Crawling back out was very interesting because one of the dogs stayed under my right arm licking my face the whole way out. I would try to push him outta the way but that didn't work so well.

Finally got the job done. Here is what my work looks like.

Hmmm...The cabinets are the eye-catcher. They spent their money wisely.  They will adorn the countertops with a few appliances; and, no one will make note that it's not 'the good stuff.' 

I know granite is the popular thing now; but, I genuinely prefer the tile affect. Granite requires upkeep that many don't make mention of. It's durable; but, stark on some levels.

But, back to the cabinetry; great job.

I would have ran from the house seeing that mess. No wonder they had roaches. You did an amazing job. Those counters are lovely.
