A young man with newly diagnosed high BP, and more
At the evening, a young man of 36 years of age came to my chamber. He is a Bangladeshi who, earlier today went to join a new company after a long jobless period due to COVID-19 issue. But alas! He was rejected due to very high blood pressure. According to him, the recorded BP (by digital BP measuring machine) was 204/130 mmHg! It is very high blood pressure. Interestingly he wasn't having any symptoms!!

When I checked his BP at my chamber it was 160/130 mmHg! His diastolic pressure was at an alarmingly high level. We all know that BP measurement has two components; systolic BP (first or the higher one) and diastolic BP (later or lower one). A systolic BP of 160 mmHg is not as dangerous as a diastolic BP of 130 mmHg! A fluctuation of systolic one is not uncommon which attribute to stress, exertion or exercise. On the other hand, a rise of diastolic BP signifies some blood vessels related problems like narrowing of vessels due to high blood lipids. 

I asked him to check ✔ a few other blood parameters which are intimately related with raised BP, e.g. blood sugar and lipid profile. But he was rather more interested in reducing blood pressure rapidly before the next Saturday's next check-up than knowing the actual pathology in his body. I had to give him a BP medication 💊. I asked him to come for a follow-up. Besides medicine, I gave him dietary advice and told him to do daily regular exercise.
