<center>**Mention-able diseases/conditions(top 5) I have treated today**</center>
* **Herpes zoster:** A lady came with vesicular lesions along a band like area in one side of her abdomen for 2 days. 
* **Severe headache due to migraine:** This patient presented with typical left sided migraine i.e. migraine with aura.
* **Insect in the right ear canal:** An interesting case. A flying insect forget it's route and entered into an adult male's right ear canal. I brought out a dead insect with an alligator forceps.
* **Pain in the multiple body site following fall in the bathroom:** A guy slipped in the bathroom and got hit on multiple body site notably back of the head and left elbow. Luckily there was no vomiting history. 
* **Fracture in the right third metatarsal:** An old lady fall at home while walking and broke her foot bone.

**Herpes zoster:** We all know about chicken pox and I think there is hardly any person who hasn't suffer from it in his/her lifetime. Chickenpox is caused by a virus named **varicella-zoster virus(VZV)**. After initial infection i.e. chicken pox, sometimes the virus may not completely clear from our body and take a deep sleep ( remain inactive) in its favourite place (**dorsal root ganglion of sensory nerves**). In the latter part, it may wake up and creates a similar disease to chickenpox. It is then known as herpes zoster.
Although the virus is the same, the disease pattern is quite different than chicken pox.

You can see that  in case of chicken pox, the lesions are almost everywhere but in case of herpes zoster, it is distributed in a band like fashion. The area of lesion coincide with dermatome, the area of the skin supplied by a single spinal nerve where the virus takes the long nap.
