Can there be...?
An idea so clever, it cannot be questioned?

A fact so precise, it cannot be proven?

An ethic so virtuous, it cannot be violated?

An emotion so fulfilling, it cannot be felt?

An object so real, it cannot be revealed?

A concept so comprehensive, it cannot be comprehended?

Is there a philosophy so definite, it cannot be debated?
No, I say, and thus, to you I say, if you are reading my essays, poems, or stories, and spot a reason for debate or argumentation, go for it. I'm always open to critique, examination, and analysis of any of my ideas. The scientific method is my most respected methodology for finding out information, superior to debate or logic perhaps, but I will most certainly settle for mere logic or debate, if you wish to have a go at anything I say.

If you can make me feel or think something, then there is something to be said.

Truth is a journey, so to think I know truth by default is absurd. I quite enjoy writing all my ideas, and reading all the fun articles here, but nothing is as delightful as a little debate in the comments. Of course, it's only enlightening if we both have an open mind, and empathy for each others' positions in our hearts. There is most certainly an adventure waiting in each person, so to discuss things with them is always quite fun, isn't it?

I see no one here as an enemy. Only friends and allies in hiding, so although my philosophies can be harsh and critical, it is only in search of truth and justice that I perform this terrible, heretical duty. This scientific sword, covered in the blood of slaughtered ideas, and this skeptical shield, covered in the many arrows of folly, and dented by delusion, are what I must use in this battlefield of Earth and our technologically complex internet, filled with so many different people, all of which whom have their own fascinating story.

And each of them agree or disagree in different ways, about different things.

However, I think there is one idea, one fact, one ethic, one emotion, one thing, one concept, which forms the most vile, most terrible philosophy. It is an act that is beyond desperation, for it reaches into our very hearts, and snatches away our warmth, our happiness, and all that is sane, and thus, it must never be considered. It is not just a darkness, like that of night; rather, it is The Darkness.

I suppose Kevorkian would disagree though, so again, can anything not be analyzed?

Is there any thought that cannot be fought?

I suppose it is the nature of truth and reality to seep its way in through the cracks in our little walls. But it is not always truth that seeps.

It is that terrible black syrup, that terrible liquid that @alexbeyman writes about extensively. It is this feeling, this terrible grimness, that should not exist in life. It is not like scorching fire, or terrible plague, nor is it like pain or death of any sort.

Instead, it's a crumpling. A folding of will-power, or a defeat of idealism. A negation of hope.

It's a terrible thing to let the darkness in, and once you stop trying to fight it, you are either awash with it, and survive, and begin to fight once more, or you succumb, and that is that.

Either way, with my writing, I hope to forge tools of all sorts, swords and shields, and all manner of weaponry to defend us from terrible, sad, and awful things. To manipulate a person, to shatter their smile, to make a good life turn bad, is not tolerable. This darkness is not to be allowed in.

It must be fought, and we must win.

I have a question. Just to ponder. It relates to how we define the term suicide.

What should we consider suicide?
For instance, what about a loss of will to live. What if a person does not take their own life but rather stops fighting to stay alive. They stop eating and drinking water and slowly they fade away. Is this suicide?

Does suicide need to be a direct action or can it be a passive lack of action?

Just now, I received news from a friend, about their cat.

The cat has cancer, and has had it for awhile, but just recently, they stopped eating and drinking. They will soon fade away. Is this cat committing suicide?

I would say no: It is the cancer, which cannot be won against often times.

As with all reality, there is always a cause, which produces an effect.

Cancer can be a terrible cause, which has the cat stop eating, because it is too hard to even be alive.

With a person, or philosophical cat:

If it is just depression of the most despairing sort, and a person simply stops trying to exist, and denies their instincts to live, then I suppose that must also have a cause, right? No matter what the cause is, the effect is suicide, or just thoughts about it.

I think suicide is a feeling. Not just an act.

Suicide is a philosophy, isn't it? A journey, almost. People have many terrible things happen to them in life, and always in the back of their head, they can just think, "I can end it right now, forever."

At some point, they do. Often, they fulfill their genetic instinct, and have a child, whom they raise, nurture, and love, so that they can also exist in reality, to do things that an evolved being does.

Which might be fighting depressive darkness.

But once a child is had, the concept of suicide, or even just dying, might change for a person. But I do not yet know.
I think when I define suicide, I define it as all those things I mentioned in my essay. Idea, facts, objects/verbs, and all of those things.

Suicide is more than just a sudden act. It is a philosophy, or even a way of life. It's a thought-form that grips your mind, and forces you onto its terrible path of agonizing over the horrifying existence of life and reality, and which never stops trying to defeat you.

Life is not pleasant many times. Life is a terrible, lonely thing, so as for suicide being direct or passive, I think that there is a concept at hand here that makes suicide out to be a disconnected act, rather than stairs to the gallows, which a person must take one step at a time.

You made a string of statements at the beginning and from a normal, human perspective they all seem obvious, but I would like to state some wisdom from Buddhist monks who have transcended these questions. Because in their understanding, you may understand more fully life, and thus be more averse to suicide.

> An idea so clever, it cannot be questioned?

Yes, you can have such a thought. They appear as a flash of intuition. A glimpse onto god if you will. And you .... just know.

> A fact so precise, it cannot be proven?

Yes, there are several of these. Proving god exists is one of them. Once you know god, and see all the interconnectedness of this universe there is nothing that can shake your belief in god. But, still, it cannot be proven.

> An ethic so virtuous, it cannot be violated?

This is more difficult one, however, free will is such a thing.
The way this universe is set up, it cannot be violated.

> An emotion so fulfilling, it cannot be felt?

When talking with angels, they describe their natural state as pure bliss.
A typical phrase is that saying hello, to an angel is equivalent to having sex times 100.
There are emotions so fulfilling, that are out of the range of humans to feel at this time.

> An object so real, it cannot be revealed?

Again, we would talk about god and the creation of this universe.
The realest thing. The thing which all other objects have come from.
And it cannot be revealed, because of free will. You have to choose to go and seek it yourself.

> A concept so comprehensive, it cannot be comprehended?

Again, if you look for god, you will run into a lot of this. That the comprehensiveness of the universe is so great that you can't ever fit it all into your mind.

> Is there a philosophy so definite, it cannot be debated?

Yes, this is the path that Buddhist strive for. Where your being becomes life; where your life becomes a perfect reflection of your being.

When one contemplates suicide, there is usually so much hurt that they cannot see a future without pain. Our current memes on dealing with this pain is just to ignore it and get on with your life.

But, pain cannot be ignored. As much as you push it down, it will resurface into your life. Such that everything you do seems to be painful.

If, as a child, your mother shouted at you, "I hate you, you destroyed my life". If your mother never showed you love, can you ever know love in your life?

Not until you go inside and heal the pain this wound of all wounds has caused. Until you heal this, you will constant look for love, and seemingly find it, only to have it collapse / disappear.

And so, it is very easy to welcome your only true friend, the darkness.

You think those statements can be answered?

I challenge you on all of them.

If your answer is "my religion," then of course you are seeing a very different thing than I am. My answer to that is: Children are taught to see unproven beliefs or religions as true. No religion is true. Fabrications and lies are far more plentiful than truth.

The only things that are true are things that can be scientifically proven, logically concluded, or at least given falsifiability, and a fair chance at debate.

There can be a thousand lies, but only one truth.

Thus this truth cannot be a truth that cannot be known to be true for sure, by one and all. Instead, I shall vivisect a paradox until it is dead.

This is the delusion that I fear: A word that cannot be spoken.

Speak it.

What is this unspeakable word? Can it be typed?

Oh how interesting: if it does not exist, then of course it cannot be seen or proven or thought about.

This is the negation of your concept of god here.

If a thing does not exist, and has no evidence for it, then why in the world should you claim it exists, just because it does not exist?

This being sounds more like Darkness to me. Are you so sure that this unknowable knowledge is more than mere paradoxical words, and an actual god?

And not a demon instead?

In here, you are speaking truth from a scientific point of view.
There is no scientific logic or reasoning that can ever show you the things I stated.

Here is the proof: Science comes from the same root word as scythe. To cut apart. There is also a "science" (I don't know what it will be called) of putting things together.

In set theory there are two special sets. The null set and the set of everything.

If god made everything, then god is in everything.
And thus is the everything set.
And since science is to cut apart, i.e. to make a set of chairs, which inversely makes a set of all not-chairs, then in order to get a scientific proof of god you have to find something that is not god. Since that cannot be done...

There only exists two other possibilities, that god is everywhere and everything, or god doesn't exist.

So, science cannot help us with this query.
Sorry.

However, science is not the only way to know something.

I have experienced all that I have stated, and thus, it is why I have stated them. So that others may know that they too may experience them.

I can show you the path, but I cannot walk it for you.

I must confess I don't understand why you're so apodictic here. In some circumstances, you may well be considering a suicide exactly to save 'your warmth, your happiness, and all that is sane'. You may just try to hold on to yourself until the very end...

I form my philosophies via the scientific method, whenever possible.

Recently, there was a death of a fellow Steemian, and many people reported feeling terrible things because of it.

It was not the person who committed the suicide who had their warmth snatched away.

It was her friends and family.

I'm not suggesting to take a suicide lightly i.e. without even considering what it will do to people you care about. They will need an explanation. But still, it's my decision at the end. Isn't it?

If I understand the evolution correctly we came from the chaos of matter by many blind trials. I just think that some of these nature's experiments are too painful to ask anybody to live through them. Especially if there is no God to repay the torment.

I don't know how to apply any scientific method here. ..
