*Greetings, everyone*
*This is my entry to #WeekendFreewrite organized by @mariannewest. Prompts in bold italics*. It took me forever to come up with an end for this story. Maybe tireness and lack of coffee made me scrible some farfetched ideas.

# Tasting Faith

***Mindy McHorse took a big slurp from her first cup of coffee.***
-Easy. It’s hot.
-This is good. What did you say it is called? Toffee?
-Coffee. And you don’t take too much of it. He whispered
-They told me the same about whiskey and I can take a barrel without blinking.
Mindy was what you may call a coarse woman. Her last name was not really McHorse. That’s the nick name she earned after proving herself as tough as a beast of burden.
Women were not even allowed into these unsavory "coffee houses" after the King determined that these new environments were rather subversive. But, you could not tell Mindy was a woman just by her frame. She dressed like a man, she drank like a man, and sure as hell she could fight like a man.

***"Over 50 Hacks for a healthier happier you," he screamed as he was waving the pamphlet in every by-walker’s face.***
-What’s the fuzz then about not drinking too much of it? Mindy asked intrigued.
-I like you. I don’t want you to go around like a walking corpse. It's ugly enough that you have to heap them in the streets. But I don’t know them other men. I couldn’t care less.
Mindy McHorse was not sure she should feel flattered or disgusted. She finished her coffee in one gulp as she left the establishment and headed out back to work.
-Are you sure this toffee thing will protect me from the plague?
-It protected the Arabs and the Africans, it will surely protect us. You just got to have some faith.
Mindy had nothing to lose. Being the kind of woman she was had allowed her to see the world through all kinds of eyes. Maybe men were wrong about faith in an almighty spirit that was rather absent now that they needed him more than ever. He did not seem to mind his children falling like flies in the streets. She had more faith in her horse that in any man or man-made deity.
She took a coin from her jacket pocket and threw it to the coffee guy.
-That’s my gal. He said, without thinking, and threw a small fragrant bag to Mindy. Just put some in boiling water. Three times a day. It’ll do the trick.

***A red scarf*** flew out in the air and straight to the man’s face as Mindy climbed on her horse.
**[end of five minutes]**
-You dropped this. He said making a bundle with the red fabric and reaching towards the hectic rider.
-I would not wear such a thing. She said as she galloped away.
-You can tie it to your house door. Maybe the angel of death will spare you. A passerby said.
-I ain’t no Jew. The man replied indignant, turning around to face the voice. It belonged to a hooded figure that might passed for a monk or a tramp.
-Maybe this plague was not godsend either. Maybe you want to be on the safe side. Faith can have many faces, you know. How much for your dark sour beverage?
