Ulog # 090 | Anna's After Party. Sharing Quality Time
*Greetings, dear Steemians*
As I told you in the [previous #Ulog ](https://steemit.com/hive-114105/@hlezama/ulog-089-or-flying-to-puerto-ordaz-to-surprise-my-daughter-on-her-12th-birthday), my wife, my step-daughter and I flew from Cumaná to Puerto Ordaz on the 25th to surprise my daughter Anna, who was celebrating her 12th birthday. It was a very emotional day for us all.

**On Sunday** we got up early to do as much as we could, given that we needed to return home on Monday. My wife wanted to visit some relatives who live not that far from Anna's grandmother's apartment. So, we decided to walk there and enjoy the view.

My wife had not seen her aunt in a while. She has been suffering from Alzheimer for about the last decade. In the last couple of years she has lost most of her motor and speech skills. It was very painful to see her like that.

There were other relatives in town and they had a good time sharing with the new generation. Venezuelan kids are growing disconnected from their inmediate relatives due to the impossibility we have to travel and visit, even from neighboring towns. If relatives live far apart, it is close to impossible to have these kids nurture their family links.

From that visit we had to rush back to the apartment because my daughter's aunt's husband had invited us to a local club and they decided the time at the very last minute. It was an eye-opening experience. Paralel to a Venezuela of scarcity and poverty, there is also a Venezuela of abundance that has managed not only to maintain its members, but even to increase them and solidify their status. Crises bring also opportunities for those willing to take risks and with resources and links to do it.

At this club we were able to see the luxury, confort and beauty of the Venezuela most people enjoyed 20 years ago.

We ate and drank like we had not done in years. The girls had a great time at the pool and playground and they took us back to the apartment late at night, pretty tired to wake upearly the next day. So, we decided not to come back home on monday.

## Monday!
We decided to go to a local mall for a walk. My daughter wanted us to go to the movies, but we were close to broke. We settled for some icecream. Besides, Anna had missed school and had some extra work to do.

So we got her the material she needed for a drawing that was requested at school for the next day and I helped her with that. After that we went to one of my wife's cousins to sleep there (they had a car and would be able to take us to the terminal early in the morning). It was a hard good bye. My daughter cried a lot. It made me remember the hard days of the divorce and her heartbraking cries every time I visited and left.

She is growing fast and I'd like to share every moment I can with her. It's going to be difficult, but we'll figure something out.

Thanks, @owasco. Things are not getting any better, really. If you check the news you'll find a very confusing scenario. Politically, things are worse than last year. Inflation does not stop, hospitals continue their deterioration process, etc.
We just closed our eyes and decided to spend our savings on that trip. We are at a point where things other than family make little sense. Every time you put together some money for a project something happens, things that would not hurt your pocket in the past, and you have to spend whatever you had saved.
I had to have a tooth fixed that cost almost as much as the trip.
We figured having a good time for all times' sake would be worth it.
