<html> <p><img src="https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/16832314_1214775445237279_5510304364918723818_n.jpg?oh=09a0bfa8bcad7a8548ca5f61af7efc3b&oe=5944C4CE" width="960" height="960"/></p> <p>First off let me start by saying that if you haven't seen Get Out then you should really reevaluate your life. If you saw the trailer of the movie you most likely assumed it would be your run of the mill horror/thriller film but this was not the case. No. This was not your normal horror/thriller film. It was one of the most brilliantly written and directed films I've seen in a while and that is saying a lot especially coming from a Quentin Tarantino fan. Look I am not putting Jordan Peele on the level of Quentin but what I am saying is that there are very few directors or writers who can write at that high of a level in such a unique way. So here is what I enjoyed the most and my thoughts about this "racial ballet".</p> <p><br></p> <h2>The thing people want to avoid most punches them right in the face</h2> <p>Racism is real. There is no post racism. I will not go into much detail here regarding the issue but there were so many of these tones all throughout the film. For those of you who are going to see it this will not be something that will be swept under the rug so be prepared to witness our reality. For those who have already seen it I hope you walked away with a more in-depth look at what it is like for us on a very frequent basis. This movie is not about making white people feel guilty although some may feel that way because of their own conscience. This is just our truth and it is what it is. I am glad Jordan Peele did not shy away from this brutal reality. </p> <h1>The double consciousness of black people is REAL </h1> <p>It sucks to have to wake up everyday and split our minds into two- One Black the other American. Because of our history here in this country we have to think about things that other people don't have to think about. We also do things subconsciously to make sure that white people are always comfortable with us and our culture. This is a dynamic that was very well portrayed in this film. </p> <h2>Did I already mention how well directed and written it was</h2> <p>I mentioned earlier that this was a "racial ballet" and it was exactly that. The way Jordan combined racial issues with horror and music was just one of the most amazing experiences you can have while watching a film. Every line seemed to be very intentional and well thought out. There were not many filler lines that I can think of. Also, there was a lot of foreshadowing that was very subtle at first. You didn't pick up on what was foreshadowed until after the scene had taken place but it was still very unpredictable which made the film even better. For someone directing their first film, this was impressive and it makes me excited to watch more of his films in the future.</p> <h2>There were some amazingly random parts in it that happened to be funny and weird at the same time. </h2> <p>Not to spoil the movie, but if a man came running at you full speed in the dark of night, getting within 3ft of you, and then all of sudden makes a cut in another direction for no apparent reason, how would you react? Exactly. It's just weird and random at the same time but I also find it funny for some reason. I don't even want to mention any other of these kinds of moments but I will just drop that one off for you. GO SEE THE MOVIE.</p> <h2>It's a really good conversation piece</h2> <p>My wife and I have been talking about how great this movie was since we saw it a few days ago. There were so many really brilliant and dope parts to talk about. As a matter of fact, right after the movie ended we gathered around in the lobby with friends to talk about all the nuances and dynamics of the movie. We probably stood there discussing the movie for at least 10 minutes which was a testament to how good the movie was and how much this movie just really makes you think.
