>You like because and you love despite. - Set It Up (The Movie) 

I was watching a movie -Set It Up - when I stumbled on that quote. It's a lot to ponder on. I have a few thoughts inspired by the quote which informs the reason for this post. 

#### The Movie Is A Romance Comedy 
Normally, I would dive straight to sharing my thoughts but I feel I should talk about the movie first. 

Basically, it's a rom-com [romance + comedy]. It tells the tale of how two overworking assistants set up their bosses to fall in love with each other. It's quite amusing see these two assistants conniving to set things up and fix errors. 

#### The Quote Was Made By Someone About To Be Married 
Someone towards the end of the movie, the two assistants attended an engagement party and the bride to be said those words. She said her grandma mentioned those words to her.

I think the character's grandma was drawing from insights based on experience. I'm talking about the ones you never know kw about until you experience them. 

I can claim to have experienced much but I do know that quote is true and applies to all of us 

#### We Are Attracted By What We Like 
When you see someone for the first time, what decided whether you like the person or not are the qualities you see. For instance, you might like someone because they smile a lot. Or maybe you both share a hobby.

The point is pretty simple and straightforward: you like because based on their attractive qualities. If you're asked to tell why you like a person, you would reply 'I like he/her because.... ' and the state the reason(s)

#### We Love Despite
I've never been able to understand love. unlike 'like' that's pretty straightforward, love can be mysterious sometimes. 

I remember when I was still a Christian, we used to say God is love. To understand love, you must understand God. Well, maybe we were right but on a deeper level. No one understands God fully. Same thing with love. 

Anyway, when you see two people in love, you sometimes get the feeling that one party is putting up with something. This is more pronounced when you know both parties on a deeper level. 

For instance, one of my friends' girlfriend isn't exactly the kind of girl I would want for him. Our mutual friends agree with me. We've talked and ranted and even castigated the girl in his presence. None of it worked. He's sticking with the girl, even as I write this. 

#### The Difference Is Clear? 
While like deals with the things that attract us, love is the ability to cherish something despite the seemingly bad qualities. I use the word seemingly because I've come to realise that those in live doesn't count the bad qualities as something major. 

The difference isn't entirely clear as people also love based on attractive features. Even more, no one is perfect. If you choose to like someone based on their attractive qualities, you're liking them despite their unattractive qualities. 

But then, I think love is stronger and more accommodating.
