Happy new year everyone, I believe we are all in 2018 now, so here is @illuminatus saying "Hello people, welcome to 2018!!". I don't know about you but 2017 was an incredible year for me. I learnt several things about myself, including my capabilities and my deficiencies. In 2017, I learned that I am not a perfect person and the road to being perfect was a work that would take forever. As a result of all this, I stopped wishing to be like others, only striving to be a better person than I was the previous day.

Most of us are in the habit of making new year resolutions but only to forget everything about them after a few days or months. I don't really think I can stick to resolutions either, I am too playful for that anyway. However it would be beautiful if we could all work together to make this year a beautiful year. We have the capability to make the Earth into a paradise or an hell, it all depends on our actions.

Let me move to my story for today.

A long time ago, men and animals lived together in communities in love and harmony, carrying out various activities together. At this time, Okanlawon was the king and had an habit of throwing feasts for citizens of his kingdoms. During these feasts, every individual was allowed to eat as much as he could and people always enjoyed themselves.

However, there came a time when people were not as satisfied as they used to be. The reason for this was that the elephant had recently moved into the kingdom and he was able to eat a large amount of food. The elephant ate the food meant for most of the people, causing some people, especially latecomers to return home without food.

The tortoise, always arrived at the feasts late as a result of the fact that he walked slow. As a result, the elephant would have eaten all the food before his arrival. The tortoise, who always looked forward to feasts got mad and decided that he had to stop the elephant from depriving other animals of food.

One day, the tortoise made some cakes with honey, placed them in bags and headed for the elephant's house. Upon arriving, he kept an eye shut and while conversing with the elephant, he took out a cake and threw it into his mouth. The elephant wanted to know what the tortoise was eating and requested for some. The tortoise refused to give the elephant, saying that he couldn't give him as it was his eye that he was eating.

Greed made the elephant crave the meal also and he offered to have his left eye removed. The tortoise did that immediately and offered him one of the cakes he had brought along. The elephant was so impressed with the cake that he foolishly offered up his second eye. The tortoise offered him another cake and ran away afterwards.

After sometime, the elephant came to his senses and found that he had lost his sight. He called the tortoise but git no answer. He shouted at the top of his voice, trumpeting loudly. He became agitated and began to run around. He uprooted several trees before hitting a really strong tree. He slumped and died there, due to the excessive loss of blood.
