I read an article about it a few years ago, unfortunatly now I don't know where to find it.

The main idea of it was that when we watch a TV series we like, for a long time, our brain memorizes faces of the characters a lot, and then when we see them again after a pause (in the new season, for example), we already react with the same happiness like if we see old friends.

This everything got me thinking. May be it's really true? Cause I feel like it's true. Our brain perceives all the stories as real, if we read or if we watch a movie.

Researches showed that there's no matter if we read about something or we do it in reality. The same parts of the brain become active. So, that's why our experiences during reading feel so "real".

So when we oversee the characters fates we also perceive our relationships with them as pure reality.

I read that one of the hormones that are responsible for our feeling of happiness is oxytocin. And another information I head about it that dogs are also aviable to produce it:) So, when you hug a dog - you both produce the hormone of happiness:)

Hug your dog!:)

Paul Zack explores this hormone and he found out that when nothing stimulates producing of the hormone it's level tends to zero, and when it's produced it lives only for three minutes. But the good news here is that a lot of things can help to produce it! You can look at a photo of someone you love, or do somethong pleasent - and here you go, you've got your hormone:) And the same thing happens when you see a hero you like on the screen.

There's a whole list of reasons we can be attached to them so much:

1. We associate ourselves with a particular hero

2. Some characters have abilitys we would like to have. Superpowers, for example.

3. If we experience positive emotions while watching a movie - it also formes our attach.

But the main thing here - after time passes we already really perceive them as old friends. So, our brain is tricking us, and our brain is tricked. We even can feel sad if we haven't seen beloved characters long enough.

Personaly I experience this feeling watching "the Big Bang theory". A few days ago I wrote a post about my own similarity with Sheldon, and this post is a logic continuation. Sometimes I really know that a few episodes of a favorite series will quickly make me feel better - just because it's so similar to my own life and my inner picture of how a nice life looks like.

I think it's not the last post about this:) I just need time to think about how to share my thoughts and translate them to english:)

Thank you for watching:)

Love, Inber
