***The Bucegi Mountains extend along the upper part of the Prahova Valley, in the eastern part of the Southern Carpathians, and look majestic towards the towns sprawled like pearls in this valley: Predeal, Azuga, Busteni, Poiana Tapului, Sinaia. They are located on the territory of the Dambovita, Prahova and Brasov counties.***



*The Prahovean slope is rocky and steep, it has a difference of 900 m above sea level, it has bare rock walls, furrows of deep chimneys with hot brooks, rocks and pillars that dominate the deep valleys of the valleys - Morar, Cerbului, Valea Alba, Jepilor, Urlatoarea Mare, Babei, The Spring of Desire.*

***In contrast to the steep slope of Prahovean, on the other side of the mountains, towards Izvorul Dorului and Ialomita, lies a high plateau, covered with extensive alpine meadows and junipis.***


*The fauna is represented by wild boar, rabbit, wolf, fox, bear, deer, laughter, deer, squirrel. Among the birds here are the mountain roe, the hawthorn hawk, the hawk, and in the cold mountain waters there are fishes like trout, clean and barbell. Mountain eagle and black goat meet in the alpine area.*

***Access:***

*There are 2 cableway routes from Buşteni to Babele and Babele - Pestera, and Sinaia to 1400, then 1400 - 2000. In Bucegi Natural Park there are two motorway access roads that cover almost the entire area, thus facilitating the access of the tourists: one from the south, which starts from Moroeni and climbs up to Bolboci Dam and further up to the Peştera Hotel, where it intersects with the road that goes up to Bucegi Plateau; another from the eastern side, which departs from Sinaia, climbs to Cuibul Dorului and further into the Dichiului saddle and from here either in the plateau area or the Ialomita Valley. Otherwise, access is made on paths and forest roads.*

*Some of the points of interest of the massif:*


***The stones from Omu - geomorphological importance, are found on the Omu Peak in the northern massif, the highest point in the Bucegi Mountains, being the eighth highest peak in Romania, with an altitude of 2,505 m.***

*The Cross of the Heroes, of historical and tourist importance, is a monument built between 1926-1928 on Mount Caraiman to honor the memory of the Romanian heroes fallen during the First World War.*

***Cascada Urlatoarea***

*It is a cascade formed by the Urlătoarea brook, near the town of Buşteni, near the tourist route that leads from Buşteni to Bucegi Plateau on the Jepilor Mari valley. It can also be reached from Poiana Tapului.*

***The Urlatoarea waterfall is one of the most spectacular, due to flow and height (15 meters)***.

*Formed on the river of the same name, the Urlatoarea Falls also hides a legend ... It is said that the sound of falling water or the sound of the waterfall represents the constant crying of a pastor; a child of old grandchildren who was scared by the love of two brothers was thrown off the rocks.*

*The road to the waterfall is the easiest route in Bucegi. The route can be traveled within an hour of walking through the forest. Immediately you reach the foot of the Jepilor, where the Urlatoarea waterfall is.*

***The Sphinx - the other. 2216 m***

*Located 10 minutes away from the Babele chalet, the great Sfinx in Bucegi, it was photographed, for the first time, in 1900, but from the front, not the profile, as it appears in the "usual" pictures. It has only been named since 1936. The picture of the sphinx appeared when the 8m high rock with a width of 12m was viewed from a certain angle, having as a mark an axis starts from him to Baba Vantoaselor, as it is called a rock near. The man-made rock looks at the equinox precession circle. The megalith gets the clearest contour on November 21, when the sun sets.*

***„Babele” (The old women)***

*Along with the Sphinx, the group of rocks known as "Babele" rose. Keeping in touch with the Sphinx, they were called "Cyclopic Alarms of Caraiman" being worshiped to Earth and Heaven, the Sun and the Moon as well as Mars, the god of war and agriculture. Legends and theories have been formed about their appearance. Some researchers believe that modeling agents were water and wind with the support of frost and thaw. It is also considered the alternation of rocks, sandstones and limestone on the plateau. But human intervention can not be denied the finishing of more or less regular forms. Until now, no scientific evidence has been able to explain the whole phenomenon and so the legends around these cliffs continue to develop, uniting the reality with the supernatural.*

*It takes place on a single level, about 480 m long, of which 400 m are accessible to tourists, to the point called "at the Altar"*.
