Parking in the city can be a nightmare, first you have to drive up and down looking for an empty spot. 

Then after you park, during the hustle and bustle of everything you need to remember to pay for parking.

If you are lucky enough to remember to pay the meter you probably aren't that merry when you get to it, until Now!

Mary The Meter Maid is a friendly addition to the parking experience not only does she bring a smile to patrons faces, but also helps draw attention that you need to pay before you leave. 


# My Parking Experiences
Over the years I have had several hundreds of dollars in parking tickets, mostly from late nights down town getting caught up with friends and forgetting to add time to my meter. A few times I have forgot all together to even pay. Each time it's a $35 fine that you can pay by mail, or like me use the drive up window near the courthouse. Then one day they started putting stickers and signs up for  "paybyphone"  https://www.paybyphone.com/ and it saved me from that day forward I have never gotten a parking ticket.

You just type the location code found on the meter into the app and the amount you want to pay and it charges your card. Then when you have about 10 minutes left you get a text reminding you your parking time is almost up and asking if you want to add more time. That way you can add time without having to remember or go back to the meter to pay. 

# Discussion

Then while making this post I had a great idea is there a way we could make a similar app and stickers to accept cryptocurrency say maybe SBD or STEEM to do this same service? 

I am not great with coding or computers but maybe some of the more tech savvy users can figure this out. What do you Steemians think?

Well... I am almost sure something like that will come... eventually these parking meters might come with a blockchain integration of your own and the car will just pay its fee through an automated tokenized contract.

But I guess for now that's a challenging market, due to the rather low crypto-penetration for the average downtown driver and the clumsy barriers to make those payments that are most likely only accepted in rusty old fiat.

But yes... the future will be blockchainified and just a few years down the road this may be a perfectly viable business pitch. For now, I'd say the market isn't ready, but it may be a good time to start on a solution.

Yup sounds like the infrastructure would take a little time to get in place and a bit of a learning curve for those without wallets already but maybe in the future this will be more seamless.

haven't seen one of those for ages ! we don't really have them anymore in London.. not that I've seen one for a while.. most people call up on their phone and pay with a debit card for parking now.. she's cute

you'd love it. one of the cities in the world to visit. so much to see and do. so old and very laid back for a city of such a size. when you do visit be sure to go see the natural history museum. the building is literally dripping with sculptures of animals and inside there are some amazing collections to see
