**Hello fellow Steemians,** as bitcoin price increases, there are also an increase in hackers. The phishing links are all over. We should be careful of the links we click and provide sensitive information. Recently someone try to hack steemit accounts with a phishing link. @beanz I'm grateful for letting us know on the **VO.TU** discord server. Recently I received a mail from blockchain in the morning around 7:00 am asking me to authorize log in into my blockchain wallet. The mail was actually  sent at exactly 1:50 am but then I was sleeping so I couldn't see it I saw it later in the morning. It means that someone try to have access to my account but because I have verify my email with blockchain without my authorisation the person can't have access to my wallet. So supposing I didn't verify my email with blockchain the person would have access my account and withdraw my funds without me knowing.

We should all verify our bitcoin wallets especially if you are using blockchain to safeguard your wallet. To add to that we should keep our private keys and back up phrases safely. When you someone have your private keys or back up phrases, it means the wallet is no more yours. The person can withdraw your funds. With these necessary measures our accounts are secured.

But I want to talk more on the phishing link. Probably maybe I might have use a phishing link that's why someone is trying to have access to my blockchain wallet. 
So what is phishing? Phishing is a type of online scam where criminals send an email or link that appears to be from a legitimate company asking you to provide sensitive information.

This is usually done by including a link that supposedly takes you to the company’s website where you are asked to fill in your information – but the website is a clever fake and the information you provide goes straight to the crooks behind the scam. The term ’phishing’ is a pun on the word fishing because criminals are dangling a fake ’lure’ (the email that looks legitimate, as well as the website that looks legitimate) hoping users will ’bite’ by providing the information the criminals have requested – such as credit card numbers, account numbers, passwords, user names, and more.

The site they take you to (or the 'bank administrator' on the telephone) might be an extremely persuading duplicate, however in the event that you enter your data it will be stolen and manhandled. Instead, use your own link. If you use the company, you may already have a bookmark for the website you can use, if not, use a search engine and type in the company’s name, then use the link from your search engine to go to the correct site. Every standard browser now has a tool you can turn on to alert you if a website you are about to click on, or just clicked on, is safe or malicious.
