Hey now everyone, hope you're all doing well, and welcome to part one of my list of the Best Games Of 2018! Every year we see so many new releases of all different types of games, to the point where it can be hard to keep up with it all. This entire generation has been very impressive, and 2018 was no exception. At times the gaming community can focus too much on all the negatives, overlooking how lucky we are to able to play such amazing titles. So at the end of the year it's important to take a minute to look back on, and celebrate, the great experiences we've all had enjoying this wonderful hobby of ours. I've compiled a list of my personal favorites, starting at the beginning of 2018, and going in chronological order from there. The list will be broken down into four parts, and some titles had to be cut, or else this would go on far too long. So sit back, relax, and let's get started.

Monster Hunter World is an action RPG game developed by Capcom. You play the role of a hunter, where the objective is to track down, and do battle, with a wide variety of exotic, fictional animals. The beasts you encounter range from very small, to incredibly massive. You'll find them in all sorts of different environments, each with their own behaviors, and traits, but regardless they all have the potential to be deadly. As the hunter you can choose from fourteen different weapons, and each one changes the way you play drastically. There are a handful of huge, complex areas to hunt in, and each one is beautifully detailed, featuring some brilliant level design. While hunting any type of creature you have the choice to either do a straight up battle to the death with them, or you can attempt to capture them alive. The point is to collect materials from these fantastic beasts, and create new weapons and armor from them, making your character more powerful.

This series has been a huge phenomenon is Japan for many years, but here in the west we never really got to experience them in a mainstream way. I was skeptical at first if this would be something I'd enjoy, so I was a little hesitant to pick it up. Once I did I fell in love with the amazing environments, lifelike animals with some of the best AI I've ever seen, and of course the incredibly addicting gameplay loop of gathering rare loot and crafting some spectacular weapons and armor. Not only is this a ton of fun to play solo, but you can play together with friends co-op as well. The amount of content will keep you entertained for hundreds of hours, and Capcom is still creating new content all the time, with special seasonal updates that change the world around you, keeping you on your toes. This was a huge surprise for me, and I'm now completely on board for future releases. Monster Hunter World definitely earns it's spot on this list.

Shadow Of The Colossus PS4 Remake - February 6th, 2018

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shadow Of The Colossus is an action adventure game that was originally released in 2005 as a PlayStation 2 exclusive. Although it's technically an action adventure game, a lot of people consider to be more of a unique puzzle game, due to the lack of conventional traits that you'd find in that genre. It became something of a cult classic back then, and at the time I'd never seen anything else like it. Due to hardware restrictions of the PS2 the original title was a little rough around the edges, making it a great candidate for a remake on modern consoles. Luckily in early 2018 Bluepoint Games released a gorgeous remake of this amazing gem, featuring some stunning visuals, while keeping everything in tact that made this so special to begin with. I absolutely loved the 2005 version, and all these years later the remake was somehow even better.

You play as a young man named Wander, in a desperate attempt to bring a girl back to life. He carries the girl's body on horseback, traveling to a forbidden land that is secluded, and kept secret from the rest of the world. After placing her on a sacred alter, Wander sets off on a mission to defeat sixteen Colossi that roam this desolate landscape. The environment is eerily beautiful, but seems totally devoid of life. There are no towns, or NPCs to interact with, and there aren't even any enemies to battle with. Once you begin exploring you eventually come across the first Colossi that towers above you like a skyscraper. As the ground shakes with every step it takes you must find the courage to engage the massive creature, climbing up it's body like a mountain to stab it in the head. Each Colossus has a unique attack pattern, and certain weak points that you need to exploit. The game is basically a playable work of art, and I'm very happy to see it on this list.

Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom - March 23rd, 2018

![ninokuni_2400193b.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVo7VJhuLzBjkBp8VXLRC9JEkW9NJLF6t7NFRpkc7rAms/ninokuni_2400193b.jpg)

Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is an action RPG developed by Level-5, and is the sequel to the hit game, Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch. In this sprawling epic story you play as Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum, who is the young prince of a nation called Ding Dong Dell. When Evan's father, the king, mysteriously dies he now finds himself thrust into the position of the new ruler. That is, until someone sets in motion a plot to dethrone Evan, and stages a coup. Just as forces are closing in on him, Evan meets a man named Roland, who helps him escape the castle. Now the two of them are on the run, and on a mission to build a new kingdom in hopes to reclaim Evan's rightful place on the throne. On your journey you end up meeting so many colorful, memorable characters, some of which end up joining your party, and travel to lots of detailed, exotic locations.

I wasn't able to play the original Ni No Kuni, but when I saw this sequel I was immediately drawn to it's incredible art style, and it's endearing characters. Not only was this a deep action RPG, with really fun gameplay, but it also had some very impressive music, and visuals. Where most titles these days try to go for the dark, gritty, realistic tone, Ni No Kuni 2 had an overwhelming innocence to it, with a bright, lighthearted atmosphere that was really refreshing to experience. It takes you on quite an adventure, with many twists and turns throughout it's lengthy story, and I had such a great time getting caught up in it all. At the time of it's release I feel like it got slightly overlooked, and I think a lot of people missed out on playing it. But getting to explore the game's vast world, taking in it's beautiful art style, and getting to build a new kingdom was definitely a highlight for me. So of course I had to include it on my best of the year list.

Far Cry 5 - March 27th, 2018

Far Cry 5 is an action-adventure first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft, taking place in Hope County, Montana, a fictional region of USA. A dangerous doomsday cult is taking the place over, turning the beautiful countryside into a violent, corrupt area. The people there have been influenced by the cult's charismatic leader, Joseph Seed, and his equally insane family. But not all of the county's inhabitants are swayed so easily, and a band of resistance fighters are building up their forces to make a stand against Joseph and take their homes back. You play as a junior deputy sheriff who gets caught in the middle of all this, and ends up having no choice but to lead the resistance. The game focuses on combat and exploration, as you become more and more deadly, slowly gaining the upper hand over the cult. You take down various outposts, liberating each area of the map, and defeating each one of the cult leaders until you can finally confront Joseph once and for all.

This is a series that's been around for a long time now, with many titles under it's belt. I was a huge fan of the early games, really immersing myself in the gorgeous open world environments, having a blast shooting everything in sight, and riding around in all types of vehicles. But eventually it got stale, forcing me to skip the last couple entries. Then Far Cry 5 was released, and it breathed new life into the old formula, with a fantastic new setting where you have the freedom to do whatever you want, and a compelling new cast of characters. I feel like this game took the series to a whole new level, actually managing to get me back on board. Now I'm looking forward to see what the series will do next, and I think it definitely earns it's place on the list. Thus concludes part one of my picks for the Best Of 2018. Stay tuned for part two coming soon, and feel free to give me your picks down in the comments.

Thank you for checking out my Best Of 2018 List, I hope you enjoyed it!

Yesterday night I read this post. despite the dream I had, I knew the potential of it.

The idea of doing a videogame review went through my mind. but I just wanted to talk about the remake of "crash team racing" but I rather make a post about Avengers 4 jeje ... I'm sure that you reserved it for part 2. the review of CTR and more.

I have to say I really enjoyed the Video Game Awards this year, and I'm very excited for the Crash Team Racing remake. There's a good chance that will be on next year's list, but this one is strictly for games released in 2018. Thank you for reading and commenting by the way, I very much appreciate it!

Thank you! It was hard to narrow down the list because there were so many great games to choose from, and I didn't want it to go on forever. But this is only part one, and I'm going in chronological order so this is only January through March. If you like action RPGs then I would definitely recommend Ni No Kuni 2. It has a beautiful art style, great characters, and a well done story.

Every year around December I am a fan of these kind of reviews about best movies, games, albums of the year. A lot of knowledge accumulated in one place. Personally I quit gaming around 10 year ago for online gambling - I always loved playing games, but around that time I decided that I prefer to play for money instead of fun. Your post showed the coolest games and screens which truly amazed me. *Monster Hunter: World* and *Shadow Of The Colossus* blew my mind with the spectacular graphic, multiple of details and vibe. Also you surprised me with *FarCry5*, lol I remember when I played in the 1st part many years ago :)
I am afraid that any attempts of upgrading my PC will cause hundred of hours wasted on gaming, like it was the last time with *Civilization VI*
