Deutschland hat viel Holz, aber die Preise sind mit der Pandemie gestiegen

Während das Coronavirus wütete, stieg die Nachfrage nach Holzprodukten sprunghaft an. Gibt es einen Mangel an Holz oder nicht? Warum steigen die Holzpreise?

Kann der heimische Markt das alles aufnehmen?

Wohin kommt das ganze Holz? Obwohl die Sägewerke während der Pandemie voll ausgelastet sind, sammeln sich in den Wäldern im ganzen Land riesige Stapel an. "Es gibt einfach nicht genügend Sägewerke in Deutschland und es herrscht ein Fachkräftemangel.

Als der Coronavirus wütete, stieg die Nachfrage nach Holzprodukten sprunghaft an. Der Holzbau hat an Schwung gewonnen, ebenso wie Heimwerkerprojekte im Haus. Die Nachfrage ist auch in den großen internationalen Märkten gestiegen, wie z.B. in den "Vereinigten Staaten, wo viele Sägewerke während der Finanzkrise in Konkurs gingen.

Deutsche Holzhortungsfirmen machen ein Vermögen

"Die aktuellen Turbulenzen in den USA sind auch auf Deutschland übergeschwappt, wo einige Holz horten, ihre Lager über den eigenen Bedarf hinaus füllen, auf weitere Preissteigerungen spekulieren und so dafür sorgen, dass das überschüssige Holz nicht von anderen genutzt werden kann.

"Im Jahr 2020 exportiert die deutsche Sägeindustrie nur noch 600.000 Kubikmeter Schnittholz in die Vereinigten Staaten. Das ist fast vernachlässigbar", betont Carsten Merforth und fügt hinzu, dass die USA immer noch den größten Teil ihrer Importe aus Kanada und nur 4 bis 5 % aus Deutschland beziehen. Und er erklärt, dass es sich im Fall von China meist um sturmgeschädigtes oder befallenes Holz handelt, das in Deutschland niemand verwenden will".
