In our lives
There are many small things to which we become inured,
Learning to live with them almost without notice.

Small Aches and Pains, minor affronts and insults
(even larger ones too), and all
The inconveniences or our daily lives.

Many of these things
We could do something about, but it is simpler to ignore
Them, and in doing so,
We move them to the back of
Our minds and are no longer aware of them.

Pity…
Laziness takes many forms;
to NOT do something
When doing something is within your power,
Is one of the worst.

Just take care that you do not
Become inured to the simple beauty that
Surrounds us every day;
The kindnesses
That we share with each other.

This would be a true shame if we let
These things slip into the rear
Of our minds, so that we are
No longer aware of them.
Beauty, like love, is all
Around us, always.
