Phuket still holds many hidden charms if you are willing to put in a bit of effort to get off the beaten track. 

I filmed this at Phromthep Cape, which is normally swamped with tourists. Even when we arrived there were bus loads of Chinese tourists arriving into the car park. Phromthep cape being the most southern point of Phuket.

Here's the secret though! Get off the paved footpath, take the walk down to the very bottom of the cape. When we did this we met 2 other people in the course of 2 hours of filming and enjoying the serenity. 

It always surprises me that so many people take the tours to these places, take a few token pictures from a distance and never make the effort to actually walk to the most southern point. 

The walk isn't flat and it hasn't got a path other than a worn track in the dirt. This works to my favour as I like this and other people generally don't. It gave us plenty of time to play with the DJI Mavic, plan great shots and generally enjoy ourselves. 

We did have some special moments with the 'follow me' function built into the Mavic. I was hoping to get a long shot of my partner walking down the peninsula, however every time she went behind a tree it got lost! I tried to manually shoot it but there were so many ups and downs in the path the footage didn't look very good. 

The highlights in the film are the boats, one I timed very well coming across left to right. The second was a lovely kayaker who was happy for me to follow him and then over take while he was kayaking around the bay. 

If you do find yourself in Phuket make sure to walk down to the tip of Phromthep Cape it is fabulous and worth every bit of effort.
