### INTRODUCTION
Milestones are the various stages in the life of the baby which are suppose to be automatic passage from one to another.
This systematic growth is normal in the life history of a human creature. In furtherance of the background knowledge of the human, as a being, there is the need to note that he is the most advanced mammal but the weakest of all at birth. This requires an intensive care for the baby from the very first beginning as he journeys through the passages of life. You will be witness to the fact that the other specie of mammals, immediately at birth, can afford to make out-right movement. This is far from being possible with the human baby, whose neck, legs, hands are too weak for such task. This goes to adduce that the baby, in his first days, can be said to be near dormant if not for the 'kicking" and "boxing" posture. This demands that the baby requires propping up to better activate the systems adequately to respond appropriately to the challenges ahead.
A gradual growth, to maturity, of these parts of the baby's body can only be attained at the right stage in the life history of the child, if well managed.

This process of development from one stage to another, in the life of the baby we have said, is the milestone which needs to be watched for their manifestation in order to aid them to maturity.
One of such things to do immediately at birth, is to provide him first with the dangling baby- cot that you can manipulate. It will help the baby in the area of alertness especially of the brain thus preparing the sense organs for better performance such that it can coordinate well the activities of other parts of the baby's body which include firstly the neck.
#### THE NECK
This aspect of the baby's body requires foremost attention and demands alot of care. It's important to be mindful of the fact that the neck at that stage, can not sustain the weight of the head, thus requires not only the support of the hand but more importantly good nourishment by way of lavish breast-feeding. This will hasten and also enhance proper development of this part of the body in the first three months. Watch out for the progress made in attaining maturity in this aspect and consult your physician if not assess encouraging.
#### SITTING DOWN
Before the child can take off, he needs some stability by way of attaining the stage of Sitting Down which is the spring board to crawling. To do this, the baby needs your support in more ways than one. Such help or support will include backing him up while positioned on the floor, a good aid to the art of sitting. A well attained sitting stage prepares the child for crawling.
#### CRAWLING
This is the next stage in the baby's milestone which most probable is to be attained in the seventh Month.

To enhance the process, you need to apply some physical inducement such as placing attractive object a few centimetres away from the baby. By this, he will be aroused into making efforts to reach out for the object.
Through such process, crawling will be achieved by the baby in due season. It should be noted that every effort should be made by the parent to avert retarded process of crawling so as not to hamper the next stage: standing
#### STANDING
This stage is a stepping stone to walking. A baby that has attained the level of standing will naturally achieve walking stage with ease. Standing could easily be made by way of helping to hold the baby upright with your hands. This has to begin early enough in the child's life. Regular application of this will facilitate the development of the baby's
legs and sound body-build - up prepared for the next stage: walking.
#### WALKING
This is the most important aspect of movement necessary in the life of the child. This level of development has to be achieved if the arduous task awaiting the child at maturity, has to be adequately faced. You have a good part to play in ensuring that the child achieves this in due season. There are many baby's toys, the most important being the baby walker, that are made especially for this purpose. Avail the baby with these necessities of life to give it meaning to speak meaning, so to speak.
#### SPEAKING
This is language development and early
response to it is a proof of a potent-human. That the baby cries at all, at birth, is an aspect. You should note that language development has mental exercise to bear on, thus any abnormality in it is a sign of mental malfunction. It's important to be keen in the observance of this aspect of the baby's life. Regular talking/playing would go a long way to really assist the child attain or achieve sound language development. At about nine months, the child should pronounce distinct words including mama and at eighteen months he should be able to put words together in one form or the other.
#### RESPONSE TO EYE MANIPULATION
a vital aspect of the social life of the baby will be evident in the first three/four mouths. Watch out for enough of such response, as failure in that direction is not a good sign. The baby's ability to identify parents and relations is a sure proof of right mental development. This is noticeable when the baby prefers his mother and kins /kits against others not well known to him.
#### EXERCISE OF INTELLIGENCE

The exercise of intelligence in the child, is something one needs to watch out for. This takes various forms, some are applicable in areas we have noted in the aspect of the milestone.
A good mental exercise is required of every child that is bound to fulfill and attain self realization.
The parents have the vital role to play in ensuring that adequate care/nourishment including sound breast-feeding is readily available to the baby. This helps to build the brain power and prepare the mental ability of the child. Failure in this aspect gives room for abnormality that arises from brain malfunctions. Guide against
the causes of abnormalities which have to do mainly with prenatal casualty: Physical or medical.
### Conclusion
On this note, it is very important to watch out for various enemies to the proper child development for you to prevent them so as to save him of possibilities of mis management.
This conclusion needs to be buttressed with the knowledge that demands prevention of prenatal casualty, the worst of such is self-medication, infection on mothers and any form of physical accident during pregnancy.
To say the least, quite a good number of deformed children in the motherless babies homes are victims of drugs abuse, resulting mainly from failed abortion.
This goes to explain and demonstrate the extent for self-medication /drug abuse during pregnancy can lead the concerned person. The first sign of the deformation in the baby of failed abortion may lead to his abandonment.
