<br><br><center>This afternoon
Was full of thunder
Grumbling and rumbling,

<br>But I didn’t expect
To see a rebus
In the door…

An enigma,
A wraith 
With a nameless face

And it didn’t
Expect to see me—

A secret sea 
Fraught 
With vast discrepancies…

Opaque, blurry—

Motives hidden
From myself
Along with my essence—

Elusive 
As northern lights
In a city sky,

Or this presence.


<br>And to what purpose
You might ask 
If you cared;

Well yes, I’m haunted,
More so 
Than a rainy phantom.

It’s a hazard
Of who I am.

A writer
Occupying
A house of secrets—

A haunted, echoing, 
Shadowy manse, 

Waking at midnight 
And sleeping at dawn.

I don’t deny it
Just accept my lot...

Struggling with demons
That can’t be recalled— 

Clouded by feelings
That can’t be resolved.</center>
