# Bitcoin is less than a year from its next halving event.

It is going to cut the emission rate from 12.5 to 6.25 bitcoin every block.

That will drop the yearly inflation rate down to 1.8%.

That will be the first time that bitcoin has a lower inflation rate than the USD, where they target a 2% yearly inflation rate.

Roughly 4 years after that the emission rate will be cut again and the yearly inflation rate will fall to .9%.

Which will then be even lower than gold's, which comes in around 1.6%.

At that point we will basically have money that will not be affected by inflation.
