# Authorities wanting to ban BTC due to illegal activity don't really understand bitcoin... Bitcoin is a godsend to regulators. Imagine a paper-trail that exists forever pointing to where money has gone. That's exactly what you get with bitcoin. Sure, you don't have names or social security numbers attached to these money flows but if there is one mistake along the trail, the entire trail can be unraveled. You pull on one strong and the whole ball of yarn comes unraveled. That's a great benefit to regulators trying to flush out bad guys. Trying doing that with fiat cash! Google any of the largest banks and money laundering and you will see just about all of em have faced issues over the years. Bitcoin is a monetary network that solves real world problems and it can sometimes be used for nefarious things just like fiat, but regulators have a better chance of catching the bad guys via bitcoin than using fiat.
