It's not news that Lionel Messi tried to force a move away from Barcelona and it fell through, didn't work out and of course he's choosing to stay back. Now why would he decided to stay back after submitting a transfer request and choosing to move on? First of all, Barcelona has been stuttering for more than 5 years now, they stopped being that formidable force in Europe when the likes of Xavi Hernandez and Iniesta left *the blaugrana* and were never properly replaced, they made only one good forward Signing in Luis Suarez and the rest have just been okay and nothing spectacular, signings like Antoin Griezmann and Philipe Coutinho has been just average and nothing spectacular and we could agree that Barcelona has not really transitioned well from the power house they use to be to an even better club rather the reverse has been the case.
Being amongst the two best player in the world comes with its own expectations or even comes with a little disadvantage and sometimes or let's say most times, Messi is always tasked with producing magical performances even when his teammates have been poor all games. Truth is, the Argentina forward has been castigated always especially when he's been called upon and failed when it mattered the most. He failed in the two Copa America he's been called upon and one suprising thing is the fact that the Argentina team has the stars necessary for Messi to win at least a world cup in his career was there but then in every final match or really important outing where he needed to make his mark, he'd failed woefully.
It's difficult to always bear criticism, Messi has of course won so Many ballon'dor a testament to his *GOATRY* or *GOATHOOD* but then sometimes he hasn't really been an all round player and that's why Christiano Ronaldo always comes in when a better player to Messi is often asked for. In all honesty, he's done well and he is tired. He's expected Barcelona to go out there and do smart business, bring in the right players and of course continue the dominance but then the Barcelona board has been bigger failures. Always concentrating on sacking managers rather than getting in professionals to seek for ways to restore the lost glory at the *camp nou*

I feel Messi was of course fed up and willing to test the dangerous waters out there in another league, team a place that's just not Barcelona having played in Barcelona all his life and career and the recent mauling of Barca at the hands of Bayern Munich became the last straw. However it's always dicey when you fight against your employers because no matter who you are, you'll lose and Messi lost simply because he's just a singular individual that might prospectively take the football club that gave him everything to court, slap them with a lawsuit simply because they slapped a 700 million pounds release clause on your head and making it difficult for any football club to pay. This clause was placed on Messi to prevent him from ever wanting to leave the club and I guess it's come in handy and we can't say one thing about the Barcelona board and that's the fact that they have very good taste in lawyers and attorneys
Messi has of course been tagged a traitor by wanting to leave the club that gave him everything to unite with a manager that gave the world an opportunity to know him. The fact that he's fighting a lost cause which he already lost on two fronts made him decide to stay at Barcelona. A contract is a contract and Barcelona might have been coy with the terms and conditions of the contract and because of this Messi cannot fight his way out of an already dying Barcelona. It proves a player can never be bigger than a club, we've seen this with the Gareth Bale's issue at Real Madrid. Messi will of course see out his remaining contract at the *camp nou* playing without his heart because of the respect of the club and fans and that's why he's decided to stay back.
