In reading the title and maybe the poem itself, some may say it is sad and depressing. I see the beauty and charm in it.

There can be thousands of reasons why one may want to spend most of their time alone. In my opinion, here are a few... They are always working and haven't found the right partner to understand them and be the ying to their yang. Maybe they find happiness and comfort in being alone. Some just don't like people lol.

I once heard that as lonely as it is, they fight through the notion of loneliness that they have inflicted upon themselves because they feel the people they love and care for are much better off. 

When I heard that it brought sadness into my heart, but in order to understand you have to hear one's full story on their views on life and the stages in it that brought that upon them.

This charming poem was written by EliW and it is called Loners Place.

Loners place

Like a whisper, 
an echo of torment, 
Sometimes he stops by to soothe my pain 
but he still knows who he is 
he stands alone. 
For no one, his songs are sung. 
Another loner, 
my companion 
he is known by the name Wind. 

Then there are two... who are one in mind. 
I created them as love, the only one I trust. 
They are the guardians of my soul, I keep it locked. 
Two loners, companions, 
Two wolves. 

This place 
Absinthe green night sky, warm blue by day 
Rich with rain clouds and static rainbows, 
This place has two moons 
Yet I have never seen the sun. 

North, 
Is the sea. So many times I have slept in the white sand, waiting for storms to pass. 
Calmly breathing in the chaos... 
Sometimes the wolves slumber near. 
The storm is calm time. 
The roaring thunder gets it too. 

West, 
Is just horizon, mountains no walls. 
Rust colored pure waterfalls. 
West is the autumn, the loneliest of my friends, 
I go to see him the most. 
Those golden levees and willow trees, 
and the singing creek, 
its an euphoric realm, where shadows rest. 
The ancient forest memories, fall all around, 
and bury me, and keep me bound. 
Sometimes, at nights the wolves turn mad, 
And run trough the forest free and wild 
Sometimes I scream and howl along... 
You should hear, its a beautiful song. 


East, 
Is a wildflower field, 
a great pine tree grows in it's eye. 
Five sets of swings hang from its branches. 
All is still, yet if you listen close, 
you will hear laughs and screams, 
horror and art. 
The wind carries these happy wails 
through miles and miles. 

South, 
This is a canvas, a music sheet, a blackboard? 
Drafts and maps. 
All dreams and insanity. 
Words, hope, loss and melody. 
Every place I want to see, 
everything I want to be... 
Portraits - breathless. 
The blueprint, the DNA, 
not yet real, It can't be different here. 

When its time to wake, 
I take this place along 
In my mind, 
back to earth. 

This is a place, a different place, 
where we meet to be alone 
when there is nowhere to go. 
Just close your eyes, 
and walk with me.

A note below describes how she came to write this intriguing and delicate poem. 

Author's Note
One of my older writings. 
Few years ago, I made up this place in my mind. I used to put on background rain sounds and dwelt there when I felt suicidal, sad or whatever. Some sort of happy place.
Imagination is a wonderful thing.
