Sometimes you can't get out of your own way...
# Iran to ban bitcoin mining for a couple months due to the drain on the power grid, though bitcoin was helping it avoid Sanctions

Well this is ironic...

Lets say you ran a country, a country that was being "punished" by other countries and restricting it from freely participating in global trade.

And then lets say you found a way around that, a way to participate in free trade again.

And then lets say you decided that way around used a lot of energy and decided to ban it for a period of time.

Well that's exactly what is going on in Iran.

Iran is putting the chill on bitcoin mining due to energy usage.

This while Iran was actually finding a way around economic sanctions.

Perhaps maybe figuring out how to be more efficient with energy consumption would have been the better choice, but that's just me...

Wondering how this might fit into government censorship of the Internet in Iran, as this is the only angle where it really makes sense (although bans on crypto and free speech are both reprehensible IMO.)
