TIL that there is an alternative to traditional Christmas Lights!

<p>If you are like me, you absolutely hate putting up Christmas Lights. It is not that I am a Christmas Scrooge (bah humbug!), it is just that putting up Christmas lights has always involved a lot of work... From testing out the lights and replacing the bulbs that don't work, to climbing latters, getting on roofs, climbing in trees, and then of course trying to get everything untangled when you get it out of storage... and that is not even mentioning trying to keep it from getting re-tangled once you get it out! You get the idea...</p>
<p>And all of this is compounded when our house looks like this!</p>

<p>Just kidding... it is not nearly that big, but it certainly feels that way when we are putting up Christmas lights! ;)</p>
<p>I thought to myself, there must be an easier way...</p>
<p>It turns out there is!</p>

<p>It is a small device that you can set up in your yard or house and it projects thousands of tiny lasers all over. It projects several different covers and provides excellent coverage. The box says it can cover up to 3200 square feet, however, for maximum coverage of a front yard, I found that you will probably need 2 or maybe even 3.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Truth be told this isn't exactly the first time I have heard of something like this... I have seen a few over the last couple of years but kind of thought they were more of a gimmick rather than an actual useful device. However, that all changed when I started thinking about my dad and mom. They are getting a little older in their years but every year my dad insists on climbing up on that latter and putting lights up all over their house. I thought, what better way to save him a lot of trouble, effort, time, and even potentially injuries than getting him one of these?!</p>
<p>So, I purchased one last week and decided I needed to have him open it early before he started putting up the lights. This last weekend, we headed over to my parent's house and had him open his gift... It turns out my mom had also already bought one for him as well, so now he had 2! Which was actually perfect because you really do need at least 2 for full coverage of the yard.&nbsp;</p>
<p>We fired those things up and set them out front. They provided great coverage and allowed us to switch between several different settings and colors. They may seem a little expensive at first as each one can cost up to $50, however, they will pay for themselves in time saved and in headaches missed!</p>

<p>My dad absolutely loved them! What really sold him on them was that it took us less than 30 minutes to get it all set up, and then when we were done he was able to go play golf right after because it didn't take up his whole Saturday. In the past, putting up Christmas lights often became a whole day affair...&nbsp;</p>

We have some of those - lots of fun. One word of warning: since they are lasers, you need to be careful not to shine them in a neighbor's window, etc., since the beams can be quite bright some distance away.

Ok thank you for the advice! We did notice some of them were shining in our own window hitting our Christmas tree inside.. that worked perfect! :) But yes, we also saw them hitting our tree in the backyard too... lol

I've thought about using these. I saw a projection on a house, and at first glance I thought, Man that was a lot of work. Then I realized they were projection lights. They do look very good. The problem is, as you mention the lasers do shine on and through the window. Care MUST be taken in that aspect.

Yep, that is the trade-off... It takes a bit of time and skill in positioning them and in some cases people may not be able to use them because of their location, however, if you can use them, they are much easier than the alternative! :)

Great article! Just saw some last night on my neighbor's place and they are so cool looking! Great for busy,  disabled and elderly people for sure. (If they come in white,  maybe someone could do the starry night ceiling effect with this?)
