A ghost story

Okay: I don't believe in ghosts either. But to prevent any possible mess, I will add the same as in Galicia, regarding meigas: that ‘speak them, there are’.

And I already believe that there are, even if it is to attest to that shameless Ambrose Bierce theory, which said that a ghost never appears naked, but rather appears wrapped in a sheet (1).

I think, after all, that the thing about the sheet makes sense: in life it isolates us from the monsters that stalk us at night and when we die, they protect us from those same living who now look at us like monsters.

In fact, almost all the old palaces of Madrid are reputed to be inhabited by ghosts. Less scary and unfortunate, possibly, than the ghost of the hapless Raimunda, who gives fame to the Linares Palace - the current House of America - the ghosts of Lazaro Galdiano seem to want to flee, in abrupt retreat, from the heavy armor, which burnished with an excess of zeal, they remain in an unalterable guard position, longing for those ancient and bloody battles, which fortunately, today lie happily submerged in the muds of history.
