Thank you everyone who up voted and curated my last poem <a href="https://steemit.com/poetry/@justatouchfey/city-bred-1nus3iya">city bred</a>. It's been a wonderful experience sharing poetry with you so far!

Today I am having an amazing day. I have been taking some time this week to reflect because I received some great news. I feel so grateful about the changes that have happened for me recently. But I think that will be its own post.

For now, I did want to say thank you to @steemitbloggers and #powerhousecreatives for letting me join your community. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

So this poem was written by my experience with acquired brain injury. Before recovery, I was heavily into spirituality and constantly cleansing and trying to protect myself. For the duration of the DNRS program, I haven't been doing as many other practices because until things are healed it's hard to differentiate between genuine intuition and limbic system chatter.

This poem is about that conversation. Casting salt or other practices doesn't protect me from the ghosts, words, or fragments I carry around inside of me. Sometimes moving on and committing to not entertaining the thoughts of something is the best protection from it. But how do we know the difference between when it is better to face something head on or better to push it away?

You asked the very question I myself have been wondering for quite some time.
How do we tell the difference between imagined and real ideas? When dreaming, the ideas seem real enough. It is only when you wake that you understand that you had just been asleep and all your "visions" were just a dream.

But what about intuition? That happens while awake, so you can't just shrug it off as 'just a dream'. Are there angels talking to you? Are you psychic? Are you picking up messages sent by others via some sort of telepathy? How do you know?

I wonder too... I still believe in those things but I'm taking a much more detached approach to it. I feel like if I feel out of balance/too fixated it's probably my brain making stuff up. If I feel centered and relaxed about it, I feel like it's more likely to be something I'm sensing rather than something I'm making up because I want it to be that way.
