time to reflect

a season for pause

which in months just past

were hot wooden jaws

of summer’s sweat

and spring’s surprise 

they reap the sheaves

I dry my eyes

something now is so calm and fallen

a crystal ball

in shards, on the ground

fall stands up, and I
