Market Friday: the Jewelry Trade Center in Bangkok, ศูนย์อัญมณีที่กรุงเทพฯ
###  This is my entry for #marketfriday hosted by the compassionate and kind @dswigle.  Early this month, some old friends invited me to have lunch in Silom road.  So, after lunch I took the opportunity to visit the Jewelry Trade Center which is only five minutes’ walk away.

This building used to be an art objects center almost ten years ago.  Now, all the art galleries and antique shops have been replaced by jewelry shops.  I used to come here often when my Malaysian friend had a big art gallery fulled of oil paintings by top artists in Asia.  She was herself a collector so she knew so many rich people who invested in oil paintings by famous names.

 I went there to walk the path of my memories, since my friend passed away three years ago in Malaysia.  I visited her old gallery which has turned into a big crystal shop.  The famously haunted antique shop had moved away.  In the old days, cleaners and security guards all got spooked out by the ghosts there.  A few security guards resigned from their job as they were too afraid to walk by the shop in the night.   I was lucky to meet the old security guard who continues to work there.  We had a long chat about that spooky antique shop.  He told me more stories about his experiences.

เมื่อต้นเดือนเพื่อนเก่าที่ไม่ได้เจอกันนาน  เชิญเราไปกินข้าวกลางวันที่ร้านแถวถนนสีลม  หลังอาหารกลางวันเราไปเดินเล่น ที่ศูนย์อัญมณีที่อยู่ห่างไปเพียงเดินห้านาที  ที่นี่เคยเป็นศูนย์รวมผลงานศิลปะมากมาย โดยเฉพาะภาพวาดสีนํ้ามัน และร้านขายของเก่าหลายร้าน  แต่เพราะปัญหาเศรษฐกิจ ทำให้มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างไม่คาดคิด  เราไปเดินเล่นที่นี่เพื่อกวนระลึกถึงอดีตที่ผ่านมาเกือบสิบปี  เพื่อนชาวมาเลย์ของเราเคยมีห้องแสดงภาพเขียนสีนํ้ามัน โดยศิลปินที่มีชื่อเสียงในไทยและเอเชีย เขาเป็นนักสะสมภาพเขียนตัวฉกาจ และมีภาพสวยๆเป็นร้อยภาพ  เขาจึงเปิดแกลอรี่เพื่อขายและแลกเปลี่ยนงานศิลป์ กับนักลงทุนที่ชอบสะสมภาพเขียนเหมือนกัน  แต่เพื่อนของเรากลับประเทศไปนานแล้ว และเสียชีวิตสามปีมาแล้ว  ปัจจุบันห้องที่เคยแสดงภาพเขียน  กลายเป็นร้านขายหินและคริสตัลทั้งร้าน

เราไปเดินดูร้านขายของเก่า ที่ขึ้นชื่อว่ามีฝีดุมากๆ สมัยก่อนพวกรปภ ไม่มีใครกล้าเดินตรวจตึกผ่านหน้าร้านนี้เลย บางคนโดนหลอกจนต้องลาออกจากงานไปเลย  พวกพนักงานทำความสะอาดก็กลัวกันมาก  ทุกคนไม่กล้าเดินผ่านหน้าร้านนี้เลย  และจะยอมเดินอ้อมไปอีกฝั่งตรงข้าม  เพื่อนเราก็เคยเจอ เพราะเป็นทางเดินผ่านไปห้องน้ำ  เราดีใจมากที่ได้เจอพนักงานรปภ รุ่นเก่าที่ตอนนี้ได้เลื่อนเป็นหัวหน้า  เราก็เลยได้คุยกันถึงเรื่องเก่าๆพักใหญ่  เขาก็เล่าเรื่องความดุของร้านนี้ให้ฟังอีก  ลูกน้องเขาลาออกไปสองคนทีเดียว

ตอนนี้ที่นี่มีแต่อัญมณีและหินสีสวยๆ มีเพ็ชรพลอย และร้านขายจิวเวลรี่เต็มไปหมด  เราเดินดูไปก็แสบตาไป ของสวยๆเยอะแยะ แต่ก็ไม่ได้มีประโยชน์สำหรับเรานัก  เราชอบพวกหินดิบๆที่เป็นก้อนใหญ่มากกว่า เพราะพวกนี้มีพลังที่ช่วยในการรักษาโรคได้ และช่วยเรื่องสุขภาพด้วย  เราขอเข้าไปถ่ายรูปหินในร้านที่เพื่อนของเราเคยเช่าเปิดร้านมาก่อน เจ้าของใจดีมาก เขาอนุญาตให้เราถ่ายรูปตามสบาย จึงได้ภาพหินมาหลายภาพ

Thank you so much they always generous introduction to Market Friday. I look forward to visiting the jewelry Trade Center, and would have loved to have seen it as a art gallery. I love and oils especially so that makes me sad that they took that all away.

I find it cathartic and little bit sad sometimes to revisit my past.

Don't you love it when the owners let you take as many photos as you wish? You really got some good shots and the size of those stones are amazing! I can see the geodes and their patterns are absolutely splendorous. It's absolutely amazing to go to a shop like that and the only place I have ever done that is in the state of Maine and my job was dropping over the stones that they had. You have brought to me a wonderful market today and every single time! The beauty of these are amazing!

Thank you very much for a wonderful comment.  I guess I was lucky to be in the area and I always wanted to revisit my old friend’s art gallery.  It did give me a strange feeling as if reality was thrown upside down.  We used to have so many nice chats and tea breaks together there.  She said she owed me for the advice on giving up the gallery and moved back to Malaysia almost nine months before three months’ riots and curfews, political upheavals the following year.  Since she knew I was quite psychic, she followed my advice.  I wish I could have met her a few years later before her illness.

Any way, she or her spirit came to visit me several days before her sister told me on the phone about her death.  She’s now somewhere in another dimension; being a very kind and charitable person, I am certain she’s well looked after. 

The young owner of this stone shop was very kind indeed.  I hope to get back there to buy some stones one day.  The fact is I already have lots of pebbles and stones!  I shall have to treat myself to a nice piece one day.  This place will always bring back very warm memories of a beautiful friendship! 

Thanks for all your energy and effort in helping to support so many Steemians.  You have no idea how much you have made others much happier and more hopeful!  Kindness is truly a wonderful blessing.

Is it always a pleasure to peruse your wonderful posts. How fortunate to have met a person such as herself and to have forged a beautiful relationship before she was taken to another dimension. It is quite a gift to be able to see for now of the future and I am sure that you find yourself very fortunate to be able to do so.

While I am sure that I may find these visits a little bit unsettling, I can tell you that my brother that has passed away came to visit me and at first I thought it might be a dream, but made sure that I was awake because he was talking to me. I am sure that many would say that I was in a dream anyway and now of course I will never be sure. But it is a strange feeling.
