### This is my entry for #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay. Thai government has just declared Emergency Law starting on Thursday so life in Bangkok would certainly be more constricted. I always go for my afternoon walk at Wat Boworn whenever I need to recharge my energy and become more peaceful in my mind. But from tomorrow, I will have to be in quarantine as the city will be in lock down.    This old temple is a place where I could find something new to keep me wonder about the past history of this temple. Some of the trees were planted over a hundred years ago by Princes and Kings. Some old buildings were designed by Europeans who migrated to Siam. I sometimes wonder what had happened to their families and whether their grandchildren still live in Thailand. King RamaIV and RamaV had several Europeans working in the Royal Court; some of whom had been given Thai names and married Thai ladies. But we don’t know much about the third and fourth generations of these early pioneers.  Imported Chinese stone sculpture came into Siam during the reign of King RamaIII, over a hundred years ago. Walking around the temple, my eyes see the old lamp posts made from iron which were probably imported from England. The old wrought iron railings were probably imported from Italy and so were the white marble slaps in the Main Hall. The big chandeliers were probably brought from France as Thai officials did visit Versailles and got very impressed with the candle light reflected by crystal chandeliers. There used to be lots of old Russian faberge eggs in the period of King RamaV, but they had all disappeared into the black markets long time ago.  Wooden door carving on thick plank of teak wood.  The old water-colour paintings on the wall look like they need some care. These paintings reflect the life style of people in those old days, about a hundred years ago.    Notice that people in the old days all had the same short hair cut and the men did not wear any shirts. เราชอบไปเดินเล่นที่วัดบวรนิเวศฯมาก เวลาต้องการให้ใจสงบนิ่งและต้องการเติมพลัง เราก็จะไปเดินเล่นที่นั่น เดินดูต้นไม้ ตึกโบราณและรูปปั้นหินตามทางเดิน ดูการออกแบบตึกที่มีมาตั้งแต่สมัยก่อน โคมไฟเก่าที่คงนำเข้าจากประเทศอังกฤษ อาคารบางแห่งออกแบบโดยช่างชาวยุโรปที่เข้ามาในสยาม ในสมัยรีชกาลที่4 และ5 พวกราวเหล็กกล้าก็ดูเหมือนมาจากอังกฤษ ส่วนไฟระย้าน่าจะนำเข้าจากประเทศฝรั่งเศส สมัยนั้นคนไทยได้ไปเห็นความอลังการของพระราชวังแวซายต์ที่ฝรั่งเศส ความนิยมแบบฝรั่งก็เริ่มเข้ามามีอิทธิพลในสยาม หินอ่อนสีขาวในพระอุโบสถก็มาจากอิตาลี เราเดินดูตึกเก่าๆก็ทำให้คิดถึงคนสมัยก่อน ไม่รู้ว่าลูกหลานของคนรุ่นบุกเบิกชาวยุโรปยังอยู่ในประเทศไทยหรือเปล่า บางคนที่รับราชการก็ได้ชื่อใหม่เป็นภาษาไทยและมีครอบครัวอยู่ที่นี่ แต่เราแทบไม่รู้เรื่องราวของคนรุ่นหลังๆเลย  European style building built during the reign of King RamaVI; this is now a library. Below is the old water tank with an old English clock.   French style windows and imported pine tree to try to become as genuinely European as possible.     เราจะเห็นการผสมผสานของสถาปัตยกรรมแบบอังกฤษ ผสมกับแบบฝรั่งเศส แม้แต่ต้นไม้ก็เอาของฝรั่งมาปลูกให้เหมือนที่เคยเห็นในเมืองนอก เราชอบการออกแบบหน้าต่างและราวระเบียงมาก มองแล้วสวยเป็นระเบียบดี      Wishing you peace, good health and prosperity.
