My wife had to take an early morning flight to work today and I also had to get up because of that. Anyway, I then slept again later and missed the doorbell from the cook. So breakfast was outside today at Jai Hind Fast Food.

I have come to this place a few times before and know that it serves the best wada sambhar, a south indian dish and a regular breakfast item. 

There's no seating here so you have to order, and then stand and eat. 

First, let's look at the menu.

The restaurant is south indian but there is a local touch to it. You can have dosas, idli, sabudana wada, all items typically associated with breakfast but you will find people enjoying them at lunch and as a snack in the evening. 

The wadas were ready and the owner poured sambhar on it and added coconut chutney on the side. 

It is a very healthy protein rich breakfast, vegetarian of course, actually vegan. Wada is made of lentil batter and is deep fried like a donut. The sambhar is basically Lentil soup, and here it has a sweet flavour to it. that is not to my liking but they add spice so it's more sweet and sour flavour. The tanginess comes frrom the tomato in lentil soup. The heat is well balanced by a cold coconut chutney that only adds to the flavour. It costs 25 rupees of 30 US cents. 

I love sambhar wada for breakfast. Specially because of how the flavour comes together and for health reasons. 

Jai Hind Fast food keeps the Wada batter pure. Hence,  the wadas are super soft like a donut, quite literally. other places nearby add white flour to it that somehow makes the wadas taste stale. The portion size is better than any other stall around making it good on the wallet and great on the taste. 4 on 5 for the place and dish.
