When our mother passed on, my brother and I had the job of clearing the family home in the UK ready for sale. We hired a skip.

That morning we began to sort and throw out what we considered to be useless items into the skip.

Within minutes of the arrival of the skip we were bemused to see two young women sitting inside and sifting through the trash. My brother took another armful out and was greeted with "thank you sir"...

Soon, more people arrived (we dubbed them "skip locusts"), we had never seen the like before. Apparently people cruise around streets in Britain looking for skips in search for useful items. I still smile at the memory.

I guess one person's rubbish truly is another person's treasure as the saying goes.
