Finally I got to make the Dark Katharsisdrill account on my internet friend Harald Eilertsen's Hubzilla instance. (Federated network for the advanced learner.)

I am still in doubt if i should also make a seperate profile here on Steemit, but until I decide it will just be posted here with a NSFW tag.

On this profile I will be posting free creative commons artwork just like I do on my Katharsisdrill profile, but most works of art on this channel will contain nudity, violence, obscenities, humour or other things considered dangerous on the internet, some of them will just be revolting or depressing.



All post will be marked NSFW no matter what, but I wouldn’t be scared though. The reason I try this experiment is to see if having a closed channel with warnings and all will change the things I make. Looking at artists from earlier periods I tend to find myself rather lame, bland and bourgeois in comparison and it does not help when my wife only find my things funny when I am in doubt if i should publish it…

Well, I'm a dyed in the wool prude. That doesn't mean I'm against depravity, just simply that in my own isolated little "Pollyanna" life I tend to not seek it out and rarely encounter it.

I adore the decorative and languish in what is considered mundane beauty. I'm not sure when it become 'cool' to think things counter to simple beauty or even wholesome imagery more NSFW than pornography?

Though, I've never been one to try and be 'cool'. I'm happy in my little ole' granny world of romantic paintings by pre-raphaelites and William Morris wallpapers, tea in china cups and trails of dresses in English gardens or horses jumping over fences. These are the bourgeois things I happily fill my ocular view with and enjoy.

I, however, think everyone should make and appreciate what they like and little care I. I'm happily indulging in my own twee little passions and care less if other's laugh or even think it too sweet. I guess I'm always so self-involved with my own little world, I don't think about it.

I shall check out your things, sometimes, but if violence is uppermost, I'll most likely take my priggish ways back to look at some waterhouse paintings or look at swaths of antique fabrics. That is as 'wild and crazy' as I get ;)

The last half of the nineteenth century was, at least to me, the most sexually charged century of them all - all that beating around the bush made them obsessed :) But they did it in a beautiful way and they always had antiquity as an excuse. Just think of our dear Beardsley's Lysistrata illustration!

I am not sure I understand mundane beauty as opposed to cool beauty. To me there is something behind any kind of beauty, a soul, a shining light that transcend style or subject. 

I am  interested in ugliness, cheapness, shininess... and depravity. Strange thing is, there can be beauty even in this.

As for how violent and pornographic it will get, I do not know. Maybe I just am as boring and bland as I suspect.

Also... and that is the real reason for this.


This Waterhouse painting (which is incredibly saucy) was taken off the wall in Manchester Art Gallery as part of some #metoo curation... so... it is also these times that are too puritan for anything fun, which is especially true for social networks. I simply got tired of all this nsfw business.

See this IS beauty to me @katharsisdrill . For me it's the violence that always makes me not want to engage. That doesn't mean violence and 'depravity' is not art, but it is not the art I often feel a pull towards, if that makes any sense. And Beardlsey's orgyesque drawings I adore, but again, I think I'm thinking more about the modern concept of gore and toture that gets mixed up with beauty that I'm not 'into' again, not saying it isn't art or that it should NOT be, I care little what is out there, as I have the freedom of choice to see what I see. 

I don't think this is grotesque or even racy and again beautiful and surely highly decorative.

I think the NSFW buisness is often very Puritan. And it's also odd to me how you can show the most gorey vivisection of a naked woman in a film but yet a male member will NOT be seen, it's an odd thing. Certainly the nude form I love. However, if it's in a setting I simply don't like, then well, I don't like it.

I even like the old japanese prints showing octupi pleasuring ladies, to me that is beauty.

 but I guess it's the 'crass brutality and cruelty' that I sometimes see in things from around late 60's on that just doesn't do it for me. Again, not saying it isn't valid, just not my thing. 

I am, however, often lost in the bliss of the decorative and this waterhouse painting is rich with the decorative.  And I think it funny that THIS painting is considered 'saucy' when I can stand in a line at a grocery store and see more blatant display of the female form on a fashion mag or tabloid. Funny old world.
