I definitely do better with a regular check in type support group rather than a 'contest' or announcing that I'm going to accomplish XYZ. 

Of course I *can* do well at the announcing type thing, but only if its really short term. What you're saying makes SO much sense, though! I've always wondered why I tend to do better when I keep my goals to myself!

I have One Goal and One Goal only ..... be happy.

Get that release of dopamine when many people like your post and comment with attention, kind of feels like what you would experience if you had completed your goal.

This is the best Goal (for me) : To be...... to be Here Now ...  in the Present. Not living for some future reward or goal. You have to enjoy being in the moment. Present.  That is my goal anyway.

It doesn't help when a lot of people praising you makes you feel like you have a lot to appease or live up to with said goal.

It's better to just do things yourself and work at them goals. Then when you are close or finished you can post about it and feel the support and satisfaction of knowing you worked hard and when telling others all about it, their congratulations etc will mean so much more.

I said this year I was going to get out more, enjoy seeing more around my state... Well not with studies and not heaps of money haha, I ended up going to the museum in January though as part of it, was nice, but didn't do much more with seeing more.

Along with the years, I learnt that motivation is VERY inconsistent. 
At the beginning of this Steemit adventure, I was really motivated and wanted to grow my own little fanbase. A few days ago, I received my first little, few dollars payout (:D) and I felt really accomplished. Since I already got that "Mental Reward", I just completely stopped posting even though I am really far from where I would love to be. I think from now on, I'll stop looking at my wallet so often so I dont get that "Mental Reward" for every dollar I get XD

Interesting thoughts.  I think we don't realise how tough it is to break through fear. Changing habits and avoiding procrastination is tough to do. The world believes we should focus on comfort more than growth

I agree. It also seems to me like it could make it harder to actually get down to do the goal when people are praising you for it--because they're expecting it from you, you might get stressed etc. Great post, thanks for the info!

On my point of my view I think the best aims is to able to believe what do you do and trust yourself you don't need anybody trust and you will reach to you goals by time ..

Hehhe I like to write my goals in the back of my pocket calendar for myself to check in every once in a while!

It's not true, you're both amazing and beautiful inside and out. You are such a hard working, determined and strong-willed girl, and if you focus on making yourself happy with what you have going on for you and personal growth without expecting you HAVE to do this and that, or this and that is not acceptable as an image etc, you will be okay.

I have goals I tell to all my friends and goals I keep in secret (to make it interesting and mysterious). As Mr. Spock once said: Do what feels right.

Remember most people on the internet are just as lost as we can be, we have to do what makes us feel good about ourselves.

Want to get support or pressure? tell everyone, want to add some spicy mystery in your life? tell no one. There's no right way just the way that works for you.

I think that’s s very good point you made about finding a happy medium. What works for one person may not work at all for another person. I think it just depends on the person.

Someone might work harder towards their goals if they announce them to family and friends on social media. Others might be better off just keeping their goals to themselves.

Do whatever works best for yourself!

For me it works a bit differently, I mean for instance I use to be always saying about my goal to go studying in japan (like almost literally in all my posts in here XD). 

I don't use to post about it on facebook, but I do love the way people use to doubt that'll be able to accomplish and that this is "just a far away dream".

It was exactly the same when I starting telling people I was going to travel to japan last year see through peoples eyes they saying "Oh camon you will not be able to do it" are one of the beast fuel form me to do it, and show that they are not only wrong with the way they judged my capacity, but some realizes they are even judging wrong their own capacity.

This is just amazing for me =D

@kaylinart You don't need to announce your goals to anyone. Goal Setting can be a personal thing.

Yes and no :) yup, we don't need to tell everything and it is very organic, which changes time to time as well. However, the main goals are there always. That's why try to think of some unreachable goals, and putting yourself on the path towards it. 

My take is to state some of them will do. Plus, no one really remembers what are your goals, it is more like a conversation between myself. 

One more good point of announcing your goals is that some people may present you with opportunities as they are aware that you are making your way towards something. That may be a bonus :) which I found it useful too and happened to me.

I really benefit from stating my goals. For instance, earlier this year I decided I was going to lose weight. And I didn't just talk about it, I shared the ups and downs, my approach, and more.  I hit a plateau two months ago, one in which I'm just holding steady at this one weight. I still talk about it, I mention my plateau and continue to work at it.

At the beginning of November I set a tiny little goal of earning $1 per day on my writing. By the end of the month I had earned almost quadruple that amount and I'm on my way into the month of December to possibly quadruple November's income. I talk about it incessantly, and folks are really supportive. It helps me to see so many people rooting for me.

As someone who recently started a goals Mastermind group on steemit, I can understand why people don't like to tell others what they are working on.  It can help motivate you but italso take you off course from your target.

With my goals group, I am trying to create an environment for people to share their goals and support each other. I believe sharing your goals can help hold you accountable as long as you stay on target with what you need to accomplish.

Creating weekly check-ins helps with this, but it's an experiment and I will see how it works and adjust it as needed.

Awesome post once again kaylinart! I myself also tell a few people about my goals. I find it more important to walk the talk and hold off from telling people of my goals until i have already accomplished it or some of it. I only tell some people of my goals beforehand just in case im having a hard time and im in need of some push or motivation from them.

So far working for my boss for more than 3 years I rarely have been instructed of my work tasks. He hasn't had to. I always look for things to do and try to figure out how I can be the most resourceful for the company. It took me 1 year with this attitude to become the CEO of the head office daughter company.
