Yup, this is spot on. If I make a mistake I don't know about, I want to be told about it, no matter what. These days it's easier for me to recognize and learn from my mistakes, but in the past it was harder!

Good motivation 

It would if help owning up to our mistakes were incentivized better. Owning your screw-ups should be encouraged and we should be more lenient towards offenders who come clean, up to a point.

This is important because powerful people trying to weasel out of responsibility can have dangerous and far-reaching consequences.

I am not so fussed if I offend someone now. Or if someone takes someting the wrong way, assumes I meant something that wasn't what I meant etc, I tell them off.

Mistakes help us learn as long as you realise and do something about it, though a lot of people just stick with how they are and keep doing it to people. *Shakes fist*

This really reminds me of things have done wrong here on steemit. I put up a report i found on the internet and when cheetah visited me, i didn't argue because I knew I was wrong. 
Had a brain drain finding it difficult to write a post and looked for the shortest cut, When i realised it. Had to make corrections. If i don't have anything genuine to write, I stay mute. Thanks for this, the post will make a lot of persons reflect on where they have been wrong.

@kaylinart I have had to own UP to mistakes I have made initially it may not have felt very good but once a little time goes by you always feel much much better.................

Awesome post @kaylinart :)  I couldn't agree more. It's horrible at how many people will try to justify their actions rather than accept the fact that they made a mistake.  I actually see this day in and day out at work.  So when I fully admit I screwed up, my boss has not idea what to say or do. She ends up laughing usually.

The sad part is, it's easier to just admit it and move on.  If you have to create a reason for something then you have to remember what you said which by that point more than likely has turned into a lie. It's that or either their thinking has gotten really twisted (which again based on what I deal with at work is becoming the norm)

It's important to take responsibility for your mistakes and actions.  It's all a journey. As kids we study and then are tested and in life adult life we are tested and learn from that test

Great piece! It’s liberating taking the perspective that you are not responsible for what others think therefore you become more truthful with yourself and others. I guess that sweet balance of compassion and truthfulness is something worth striving for and showing others they can do the same, by not being offended by every little thing that’s passing by on the band wagon :)

I think that the difficulties of life give rise to love. Love does not appear in the fantastic side of life. Not when everyone feels great or receiving bonuses at work. It is precisely when life becomes a little difficult that the human animal needs someone else. Then we need attachment, caress, the other person's gaze and company. Especially when it is difficult. Then the unhappiness transcends itself and it paradoxically changes into solidarity. Lovingness arises in the human deficit. The sadness, that we rather do not want and do not like, gives rise to love.

And what about our society? Like you said, apparently, that sadness must always be concealed in the darkness; our difficulty, our vulnerability and our shortage is pushed away in the darkness. We cannot go to our friends and our loved ones, because we always want to be tough and fun and strong. And so we are going to shut ourselves down and run away from the lovingness.

Our society seems to veer the other way to 'I-ness', in an overrated thinking of autonomy, to 'I can do it all alone'. I’m in favour of sharing more vulnerability, sensitivity and small sadnesses.

Absolutely. The way to be a better person is to learn from your mistakes, understand what you did wrong, decide how to correct it, how to not make the same mistake, and put your thoughts in action.

If you've ever tried something new and failed, I'm sure you're a nice person to talk to than anyone who feels everything's fine or fine.
Such people in my opinion, never try anything new, you want to find something new that you can apply in your life. You have a passion and I am sure you also have an amazing life experience. There may be a lot of failures that you feel and maybe also some of you have reached the level of doubt of your own beliefs to achieve what you want.
People with such type would like to build a good image in front of others because of embarrassment seen ugly. The point is not shame to do bad, but feel ashamed if his bad deeds are known to others. So when no one else, he can do anything without feeling ashamed because he thinks no one else is looking.
Feelings of guilt also do not appear in someone whose conscience is dulled because it has never been sharpened. Or faith is weak because never nurtured. This can happen if the idea that the All-seeing and Listening Lord is only a mere knowledge that is never internalized and actualized in a person.

It actually takes humility to acknowledge our mistakes. And Humulity is a scarce virtue. Mistakes acknowleged are mistakes avoided.

It's hard sometimes showing people their flaws, especially with the new wave on the internet.
_mind your business! It doesn't concern you. It's my life_, they say. It's really hard getting through to such a person. Sometimes it's a good thing. Most people tend to blame you for their mistake, especially when you're the one giving all the advice. Sometimes experience is the best teacher. Some people may never understand the impact of their decisions until they've felt it.
What I'm trying to say in essence is that we should know when to speak and when to be silent. And sometimes silence doesn't mean you don't care but that you care about the person enough to respect their decision(s)

I'm definitely going to say something when there is something bothering me. In the same time I can accept and take criticism if i find it valid - I definitely think it's important to owe up to our mistakes

Knowing our mistakes and accepting them make us more humble and let us grow as people :) sometimes we don't want to tell people we were wrong thinking it will make us look less, but nothing more far from reality than that. I'm a medical student so it's common to see some doctors who can't accept their mistakes, but the last semester I knew a doctor who was pediatrician and when she didn't know something or make a little mistake while explaining something, she accepted it and the next day she came with the explanation searched and investigated of what she said wrong. She is so humble that I admire her.

Being the bigger person and owning up to our mistakes is the best thing you can do for yourself or others.

Personal Responsibility has been weened out of the public...a sad day when adults are no longer adult.

Sometimes we focus too much on the mistakes made by others, but we do not see ours, we are ready to criticize but not to seek solutions to the different situations that arise, I think that is the biggest flaw we have humans, the fact be selfish and only care about our lives no matter if it affects someone else
