 اليوم سوف أشارك معكم أحد الأقوال الخالدة للمفكر والأديب والشاعر المصري عباس 
               (1964-1889) محمود العقاد

التسائل الذي تبادر الى دهني في تلك اللحظة وانا اسمع لأول مرة ان القراءة تزيد من عمر الإنسان من استاذة اللغة العربية في مرحلتي الثانوية موجها لها سؤالي بكل تهكم غير مبالي بجوابها وليست لذي نية لأقتنع بإجابتها 

  كيف يمكن لكتاب أن يزيد من عمرنا   ؟

ففهمي للمعنى السطحي للقولة جعلني غير مبالي بجوابها وشرحها للمعنى العميق الذي كان يقصده محمود عباس العقاد من قولته 
لكن بعد مرور السنين وقراءة كتب  ليست بالكم الذي أطمح اليه كتب في التاريخ  ،والقانون ،كتب علم الاجتماع كتب جغرافية
استوعبت الإجابة التى كانت الاستاذة تريد أصالها ،فالقراءة عن تاريخ الأمم السابقة وعن الحضارات القديمة وعن طرق عيشهم وعن تاريخهم السياسي والاجتماعي والاقتصادي يجعلنا نتخيل انفسنا اننا عيشنا تلك الحقبة  
 من الزمن وقراءة كتب في ميادين مختلفة 
 ينمي ويزيد افكار جديدة كنت تجهلها   

 يا أصدقائي لا يختلف اثنان أن لا عمر محدد للقراءة، وأن على الإنسان أن يقرأ ويتعلم طالما لايزال في قلبه نبض الحياة
