I am presently practicing simple pranayama technique taught by Swamy Vivekananda and I think it will give good results if we practice regularly. Generally while breathing we don't follow any procedure. In this pranayama we inhale and exhale in systematic way. Slowly inhale and slowly exhale. Count numbers or chant mantra to maintain the perfect breathing. In our body there are many nerves, if we practice this pranayama these nerves will get relaxed, we will get a feeling of deep sleep. I have read this procedure in a book called raja yoga written by great karma yogi swami Vivekananda. The long term benefits are clarity in voice and change in face and peacefulness.
