Letter to my mom.

I want you to know. 

***I love you. I admire you. I am so grateful for you..***

I won’t give up on you, on us. I refuse to hate you. 
Communication isn’t our strength, but neither is defeat. 

I won’t allow frustration to breed bitterness between us. I refuse to give up on us. One day we will we will be friends. 

I won’t attempt to try. For us, I refuse to give anything less than one hundred percent. Committed to grow old in your arms and love you. 

I won’t give up on change. I refuse to accept anything less than love from you. One day we will learn to be on the same page.  

No distance, no friendship, no expectations, nothing but the two of us. You are my favorite and I choose to make it with you.

This was inspired after a fight with my mom. When I was younger these arguments would destroy me. So much negative self talk, so much negative projections, and so much unhealthy coping would follow. Not anymore. Mommy, one day you’ll read this and I want you to know.

I admire the love you have for your mom. My mom and dad separated when I was still learning how to walk. I envy other kids who have moms. When my stepmother came, I felt really happy. But looking back, I think there is still a gap in my heart. A gap no one could ever fill. Thank you for sharing @kubbyelizabeth!
