Is sex possible in space?

<p><strong>Let's discuss what will be the sexual life of the first cosmonauts or colonizers of another planet ..</strong></p>
<p><strong>We reflect and discuss that people will become an "interplanetary species", which means creating a self-regulating civilization on Mars or any other dreggy planet whose inhabitants will live and die - and that means that at some point people will have sex and give birth to children there.</strong></p>

<p>We do not have data on how the human body works specifically on Mars, but still we know enough to understand that having sex in space will not be so easy.</p>
<p>So far, no one has tried to have sex in space (as far as we know), although there are cosmonauts who are married. American astronauts Mark Lee and Jan Davis secretly married before the space flight in the early 90's. (Technically, it is forbidden to send spouses to one crew in NASA, because it is believed that this can negatively affect the quality of team interaction). Probably in secret they hid in a residential module, from the cameras and had sex-we do not know if they do not tell us themselves, maybe they will tell us about their retirement =)</p>
<p>If someone is still willing to try, then one must understand that intimate relationships outside of gravity will be physically complicated. <p>In addition, biological fluids in weightlessness usually scatter into minute particles. The whole procedure will be so complicated that, according to NASA physicist Jim Logan in an interview with NBC, sex in space will be similar to "choreography."</p>
<p>If these problems can somehow be resolved, is it worth sending only married couples to Mars? The flight to Mars will take only 80 days, but a more realistic estimate is about six months, and for such a long time, sexual dissatisfaction can become a serious problem. For this reason, one of the competitors SpaceX, the company Inspiration Mars, tried to attract married couples of a more mature age.</p>
<p>However, the choice of only married couples can only complicate everything, says Cheryl Bishop, a researcher of human behavior in extreme conditions. With any other set of people, the risk of jealousy or sexual relations will not be so great. <p>Radiation, although too small to take into account, can cause infertility in humans or have a devastating effect on the genome. Thus, it is likely that the children of astronauts exposed to radiation will be born with defects - which raises the question of creating a self-sufficient civilization.</p>
<p>Even without taking radiation into account, pregnancy in space is still a dangerous thing, and can remain so forever. For the correct development of the child in the womb, gravity is necessary, and, judging from the experiments on mice, weightlessness has a very negative effect. "Since we already have reasons for apprehension, it would be extremely unreasonable to think about further experiments in this area until we gather more information," Bishop says. "If the schedule remains in force and the first crew is launched to Mars in the next decade, I believe that the only ethically correct way out of the situation is voluntary sterilization of each of the expedition participants, because the risk for a possible child will be too great, and for this you can not go under any pretext. <p>According to Bishop, if we still reach the Mars and decide to start experiments with pregnancy, one option may be to create a laboratory with artificial gravity, where mothers could live for nine months.
