The Old Dog Discusses: Decentralized 2019 Will Steem be Represented?

<p><a href="https://www.decentralized.com/"><strong>Decentralized</strong></a> is Europe's premier conference on blockchain and digital currencies. It is organized by the University of Nicosia (UNIC) which is a world leader in blockchain research and technology.</p>
<p>This years conference which will take place in Athens Greece from October 30th to November 1st will feature 100+ &nbsp;speakers and &nbsp;1,500+ attendees. There will be an exchange of knowledge and ideas on the innovative technology, business and social/economic ramifications of blockchain and crypto.</p>
<h1>A Call Has Gone Out For Speakers. Will Steem Be Represented?</h1>

<p>I was at last year's conference and it was very well run and highly informative. A veritable who's who of the block chain world including Roger Ver of Bitcoin fame were on the program.</p>
<h1>In 2018 The Best Presentation Was Given By Two of Steem's Own</h1>

<p>As I wrote<a href="https://steemit.com/steem/@kus-knee/the-old-dog-heralds-good-news-for-steem"> <strong>here</strong></a><strong> </strong>just three months ago:</p>
<p>"Yesterday I saw Steem climb and soar in the eyes of many as the two Steemers behind <a href="https://steemit.com/@oracle-d">@oracle-d</a> &nbsp;(Matt Starkey, Dylan Leighton) &nbsp;took to the main stage at Decentralized &nbsp;2018. I had no idea that they'd be speaking here and quite honestly &nbsp;they brought an energy and excitement that no one else on the program &nbsp;did.&nbsp;</p>
<p>They hit the ball out of the park with their presentation about how &nbsp;they’ve built a company without an ICO by using the &nbsp;Steem blockchain. &nbsp;They then explained how they’re bringing investors in to hold Steem &nbsp;Power and use it to reward their community for completing tasks."</p>

<h1>A Lot Has Changed in Three Months</h1>
<p><br></p>
<p>In the last three months we've seen a bear market with a huge dip in crypto prices, a complete re-structuring of SteemInc, a short period of despair and then a boom in Steem blockchain DApp development!</p>
<p>It's time to put our best foot forward at Decentralized 2019 with speakers and perhaps a booth at this years event!</p>

<h1>Who Will Represent The Steem Blockchain at Decentralized 2019</h1>
<p><br></p>
<p>Last year <a href="https://steemit.com/@starkerz">@starkerz</a> and <a href="https://steemit.com/@anarcotech">@anarcotech</a> co-founders of &nbsp;Oracle-D and the Steem Business Alliance did a great job and I'd like to see them there again.</p>
<p>Who else could and should be there? Could @exyle speak at such a conference? What about @ned, @pennsif, @blocktrades or @andrarchy? What about the brains behind @drugwars or @steemmonsters or the founders of our other great, up and coming DApps?</p>

<h1>Why is Being There So Important?</h1>

<p>Unlike Steemfest which is a wonderful celebration among fellow Steemers the presentations at Decentralized are heard by the BIG BOYS of the crypto world.&nbsp;</p>

Business men, lawyers, Fintech giants, investors, leaders in academia &nbsp;and swarms of young enthusiastic students can be exposed to Steem and find out why it makes sense to build on the Steem blockchain.</p>

Sounds like a great idea to use it as a platform. I would like to see someone from DTude there and someone from the gaming side of steem. These are real use cases ( as well as others) and are where I can see real potential growth requiring investment and publicity. Maybe the community could fund several people to go.

If so that's GREAT news! BitShares had 2 presentations and a booth  so why not Steem? If we can attract investors, users and builders that would be GREAT.
