What are your thoughts on the soon-to-be launched first dual SIM iPhones by Apple?

I'm not a fan of dual SIM phones. I consider them to be unnecessary, confusing and a drain on performance. I would be surprised if Apple does release a dual-SIM iPhone, but if they do, I don't think it will released worldwide and will probably just be a strategy for the China market.

I don't consider a dual-sim as an essential feature for a smartphone. In fact, I consider it superfluous. If you think about how the dual-sim features work, they have the tendency to drain batteries faster because you would be using two transceivers. They would also impact the size of the phone, force it to be bigger than it needs to be to accommodate the extra hardware. And, they're also very confusing. Imagine having to manage two sets of contacts, messages, and everything else. For anyone who wants to streamline and organize, it is definitely not the best feature.

However, we all know that Apple has been trying to enter emerging markets like India and China, where dual-SIM phones are a common feature, especially since they have carriers that only service certain regions. It is also common for phone users in these markets to buy SIM cards separate from their phones, unlike in the US where phones like the iPhone are tied to a carrier and bought as part of a monthly plan. So, the dual-SIM iPhones can be new phones that were created specifically to cater to these markets.

On a personal note, I don't like a dual-SIM iPhone. Although I have two phones, a personal iPhone and an Android phone for work, I would prefer that those two sims are separated on two phones. Combining them into the iPhone will just needlessly blur the lines. Imagine the disaster if I end up sending a personal email to a work contact. Or if I mistakenly change my picture on the work SIM's profile with an funny pic thinking it was my personal profile? Plus, I like owning an Android and an iPhone, so I'm not so ignorant when it comes to features that are specific only to one OS.

So, while I'm sure there are people who will want to have a dual-SIM feature for their iPhone, I'm not one of them.
