# How it works

As unrefined rock salt is primarily sodium chloride, it also contains other mineral salts in varying concentrations.  This included manganese, magnesium, calcium, and sulfates.  These minerals have long been credited with inherent therapeutic properties.

In fact the environment in the salt mines has no airborne pollutants, no humidity, and stable temperatures.  They have a perfect blend of elements and conditions that work together to provide a healing environment for anyone entering these mines.

As you enter the darkened room you notice the floors are granular Salt, much like sand in a beach.  The walls and ceiling look like typical stucco, but we actually Salt stucco so the tour complete surroundings envelope you in a mineral environment.  You can sit, lay or nap in reclining chairs as you listen to music (or not), for a 45 minute session.

However the real benefit is in breathing the salted air generated by a special machine called a Halogenerator.  This device creates a dry salt aerosol, made up of salt particles that are microscopic in size.  These are circulated in the therapy room where you simply sit and relax.  The dry-salt enriched air is easily inhaled with natural breathing.  This in turn enables low concentrations of salt to be inhaled deep into the lungs where it is most needed.
