If you believe a keto diet will cure you of some illness better than FDA-approved drugs, you’re also weird, possibly suicidal…
In our (little) community here, we’ve learned to be more accepting and we tolerate each other’s quirks because we belong to the same family of crypto-weirdos and we’ve got to stick together.
But then, there’s weird and weird...

Earlier, I was reading a piece of news about a [Norwegian princess falling for a black California shaman](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-7026707/Princess-Martha-Louise-Norway-reveals-shes-love-shaman-Los-Angeles.html), who says he can reverse aging, which I found weird as hell… The part with the middle-aged princess going around with a younger guy is easy to understand, in terms of midlife crisis and being a princess doesn’t make one smarter than the average person.. But how about being a shaman for a living? It can’t be worse than dealing in cryptos and by the looks of it the dude makes way more money than we do around here… He’s also a shaman to many celebrities, so, by today’s standards, definitely not weird…
By far the weirdest thing I’ve read in a while is a story from Germany where [five people are dead in a bizarre murder-suicide pact](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7031311/Pictured-Medieval-loving-women-man-centre-Germanys-mysterious-crossbow-killings.html), involving crossbows and a shared passion for the Middle Ages. And some very weird sexual dynamics… Two of the victims were found dead on a bed, holding hands, their bodies full of bolts… The woman who shot them was also dead, after turning the crossbow on herself… How weird do you have to be to check into a hotel with your friends so you can all die together? You must admit it’s a very disturbing story, but what I’d like to understand is where does the weird part start? The passion for the Middle Ages is acceptable, as the victims had just return from a jousting tournament, where they met with others like them, probably more normal… The tabloid press noted the ‘slave-master’ in this story, a 53yo guy, had some piercings and tattoos… By tabloid press standards, that’s a sign of weirdness in itself… 
To my mind, the only weird thing is these people killing themselves, but then I don’t know anything about their reasons, do I?
Over the past few years, we’ve had several cases of well-known musicians or actors killing themselves… we mourn them and the press is quick to provide adequate context - depression, fading glory, substance abuse… We understand them and we speak of their tragic end… They’re not branded weird. As a society we’ve come to accept that once in while some celebrity will commit suicide… it’s the standard we view as normal…
Like we do not condemn people killing themselves over a failed romance… it’s tragic, but not that uncommon…
If someone had their wallet hacked and a gazillion of BTC stolen, we would understand their decision to commit suicide. Not approve, but understand… Yet, the other day I was reading about some woman killing herself after finding herself in debt, some thousands of Euros I believe… and I thought that was weird and excessive, it wasn’t that much money after all… as if life had a price…
I still think those Germans who died were weird as fuck, but maybe in their world it made sense and they saw the others, those living perfectly ordinary lives as weird…
Maybe the Norwegian princess finds some joy in her relationship with the shaman and she’d better off like this, instead of carrying on with her life as a middle-aged woman bored out of her mind… I still think her story is weird, but then maybe she’d find **my life** weird…
