Yes, but the vast majority of those guns is because men are required to keep their gun at home after their army training. 
Safely locked and because there are less gun nuts, seldom taken out there.

But putting the jokes aside, for every life "saved" by a gun, there are dozens lost.

Guns killed more people in the US *after* WW II than in it. Just think about it.

Yeah, that strange, silly argument. 
First of all politicians very seldom go into your home and point a gun at you, do they?
Second, the police is not the thing you should worry about. You can quite easily beat the police when "we the people". 
What you should be worried about is the military. That are the guys who came with tank after you if you have a gun. 
Or drop a bomb on you if you happened to hide a anti tank gun. 
If the state wants to really get you, no gun will save you. Ergo that argument is invalid for the point of keeping guns.
