We tried something new today Steemit and it didn't go well. Like lollipops, I've been interested in figuring out how to make my own gummies at home. I might actually even be more interested in gummies than lollipops for the chewability factor. I've done a bit of research here and there recently as we've repeatedly discussed making these with dabs in them to sell as edibles. Tonight, we got the ingredients and gave it a go and it didn't go well. Needless to say, they aren't as easy as making suckers evidently. We got firm jello at best, people.

We believe this is partially due to difference in ingredients. The directions for preparing Mexican jello is much different than American in terms of ratio which really threw the recipe off. It also called for a tiny amount of water comparatively, which barely seemed to wet the jello.

It all starts by adding the jello, which I used 2 35g packets of flavored stuff, strawberry and cherry. I used 3 quarter gram packets of unflavored gelatin. The recipe I used told me to use 1/3 of a cup of water but that just didn't seem like enough. It appears I was wrong because I ended up making jello at best, or that's what it seems like right now anyway much to my disappointment.

All in all, it was a bit of a discouraging experiment but worth showing to people. Many seem to have this almost mystical view of me, I'm here to say that I am not perfect, I actually make way more mistakes than I have successes in most ventures. What matters is that I try and then try again, where I would have normally given up and where most people are trained to give up. Sometimes the first few attempts end up like crap, that doesn't mean all attempts will end up like crap.

And this is how life is sometimes. Not everything will come naturally, actually most things worth pursuing won't. The guy that mentored me in glass told me to have patience my first few months because "nothing will end up looking how you plan no matter how hard you try for a long time." This is a lesson that life has been pushing at me for a long time at this point, I think it's about time to finally start listening to it.

So try that something you've wanted to do for forever, even if it's something tricky that most likely won't go well. The experience you have failing will help you figure out how to succeed or that's what I'm finding anyway. If you do go after it, share your results with me, I'd love to see them.

Ah - now fruit drying is something I've had some experience with... Never thought of infusing fruit with other plant extracts though... Could be fun!

There's a treat I've enjoyed since childhood called sesame snaps and, one time, I tried a diy version... It put me off them for quite a while. btw What's the difference between the ballistics gel used by Mythbusters and edible gelatin?

The stuff used on Mythbusters is synthetic, but they used to use natural. It's got like a yellow brown tint where synthetic is clear
