 Hello friends, I decided to join in on BuddyUp's "Drop In The Ocean" (DITO) word of the week contest. This is my first time taking part in DITO. My entry is not very long so I apologize if you were hoping for more. This week's word is "contemplate". ------- Life is one big **contemplation**. If you were to personify the word itself, you'd simply get a human head - resting centeredly - contemplating between the "devil" on one shoulder and the "angel" on the other. All we ever do is contemplate... *What should I eat?* *Should I ask her on a date?* *Should I switch jobs?* *Which deodorant do I want to buy?* It goes on forever. A person who is as thoughtful as such could oftentimes call that a good quality. *Too much* can be a negative. Some would say life should be easy - that you shouldn't need to think so much. Not everyone can help it, though. When thinking becomes that excessive, it can turn to apprehension and/or anxiety. Life is all about finding the right mix of contemplation. I can think of numerous times in which I thought too much regarding a matter or did not think enough about the consequences or what-have-you. However, as humans, that's a burden we have to bare moreso than other species and it's what makes us what we are. For example, I would assume a squirrel isn't going to think twice about plastic in the ocean or missing a wedding anniversary. So...contemplate a little, but don't contemplate too much. When I contemplate something, I see it as a separate process in my mind from regular thinking, to "thinking extra hard" about something I've done or I'm considering doing, that may have sketchy consequences attached, as an example. In my lyrics, (if you've read them already), verse 2, I'm giving the cult advice to contemplate their actions the next time they see a "No Soliciting" sign, and then maybe, they won't have to deal with an angry person again. It's the kind of thinking that requires one to ask him/herself other related questions about what's in front of them, and come up with the answers before moving ahead. That is, IF they know what's good for them. :)
