¿Que es ICO y por que debe interesarte?

Initial Coin Offering o ICO por sus siglas, es una forma de crowdfunding que usan las compañías emergentes en la industria Blockchain con el fin de financiarse para su introducción al mercado. Un ICO es un evento que por lo general se extiende durante un período de una semana o más y en el que todo el mundo puede comprar monedas nuevas emitidas recientemente a cambio de criptomonedas establecidas como Bitcoin (BTC) o Ether (ETH). El principal beneficio que venden los ICO a los inversionistas, es la posibilidad de que la moneda comprada aumente su valor cuando la demanda se incremente, generando una ganancia por lo invertido.

Es tanta la euforia respecto a los ICO que solo en lo que va corrido del año se han logrado recaudar 327 millones de dólares en decenas de proyectos.

A pesar de que los ICO se están convirtiendo en una excelente oportunidad de inversión, hay que tener muchas precauciones, ya que al no ser regulados, podría ser muy riesgoso invertir. 
Algunos tips para invertir en ICO son: - AVERIGUA todo sobre el equipo de desarrollo: primero que todo, en la página web del proyecto deben estar los nombres del equipo con sus enlaces a perfiles de linkedin y demás redes. Si el equipo es anónimo, NO compres. - LEER el hilo de ANN en la página Bitcointalk.org: nuevas monedas se anuncian en esta página y tambien los desarrolladores están respondiendo preguntas. Te recomiendo leer absolutamente todo y prestar especial atención si salen términos como “scam”, “MLM”, “hack”, los cuales deben prender las alarmas. 
- LEE el whitepaper: este es el documento que todas las monedas nuevas emiten y donde explican al detalle la visión del proyecto, las operaciones, cuánto dinero necesitan, los tiempos, etc. Acá es importante ver si la moneda tiene aplicabilidad en la vida real o no ya que esto determina su éxito a largo plazo. 
- INVIERTE dinero que puedas perder y diversifica tus inversiones. Toda inversión tiene su riesgo y esta no es la excepción, por lo tanto arriesga lo que estás dispuesto a perder.
