### As I stood there in that room, in that space, in that time, I knew this was the absolute moment I had to enter recovery. The gig was up and I'd been caught red-handed with another drink. 

### For every addict each situation is different. But, for every addict the truth is still the same. That truth is that there is a moment for everyone. There is a moment that crystalises the need for recovery.

### All too often though we enter recovery not having gotten to that moment or not having self-actualised it. It is important to distinguish that YOU need to have felt this moment for yourself. Ever wonder why court-mandated rehab has such a low success rate?

### Families often come to us asking for help for family member XYZ who is dealing with XYZ addiction issue. The problem is that, while the family is ready to deal with it, the person usually is not.

### This is not to say that you shouldn't seek help, seek help for others or try to get clean and sober when you haven't had "that moment". Lots of people we know have that moment in recovery. In fact, its important to know that those moments can be big or small and occur at any time.

### During dry January this year we're hoping that more people will continue on a path to recovery past the end of the month. The more people that can focus on sobriety, the better our society will be in the long run. Addiction follows a fairly standard path of destruction for people. Some drugs affect the body and mind quickly (think Heroin, Meth, etc) while others take an extraordinary amount of time to manifest (alcohol, smoking, etc). Here are some stats from 2015:

### Look, we're not here to say you can't have a good time but we're here to shine a light on the fact that alcohol goes largely unnoticed for many because of it's legality and ubiquitous nature. Don't fall into the trap that alcohol sets for you - be in control and take charge. Use dry January as your jumping off point.
