# The High Cost of Illegal Immigration <h1> 

I wanted to look into some numbers and make some comparisons between Mexico and The United States, to perhaps get a clearer view of why this is a huge issue of debate.

**61 percent of the people in Mexico make an average of $12,850 per year.**

That's more than many receive in dollars here in the United States through the welfare system.

**Illegal immigrants receive an average of $6,241 in welfare per year. That is not including medical costs, which are tremendous and in many cases are much higher than the yearly welfare benefits.**

There are more Illegal immigrants on welfare in the USA than American citizens on welfare.

**"Illegal immigrant-headed households' use of welfare is high at 62 percent, higher than the 30 percent for households headed by native-born Americans."**

Now this is an interesting fact. 

**The 2007 median household income of unauthorized immigrants was $36,000, well below the $50,000 average natural born citizen.**

The argument has been that Illegal immigrants take the low paying jobs, so they really aren't taking jobs from Citizens.

**I personally don't know many people who make $ 36,000 a year. I realize that is the median income of unauthorized immigrants, but there are a whole lot of Americans who are making far less than that.**

I guess to politicians, that's a very low wage, but to a lot of Americans, that is a living.

The system is a mess.
We've had too many "great spenders," leading our nation for far too long. They've spent us into the mess we're in today with much concern that our great dept may never be paid.

Many of the people who reside in Mexico live in poverty. They do have a welfare system, but it's meager.

Mexico needs to get it's crap together, and so does the United States.

I understand and have empathy for the immigrants who are coming here hoping for a better life. 

What I don't understand is, they are treated incredibly well here, and yet, many don't respect America.

They wave the Mexican flag at sporting events, at parades and concerts.

Since Trump won the Election, some have burned the flag of the nation that treats them better than Mexico and in many ways, better than it's natural citizens, while some wave the Mexican flag and even burn the American flag.

Social Security is projected to run out of money, with some estimating this to happen within 20 years. 

So much money goes into illegal aliens, and Trump is absolutely correct. We should be taking excellent care of our vets.

Our veterans deserve better, and yet they have been placed on the backburner for far too long.

In our own lives, if we can't afford something, we just don't get it. In this case, our nation cannot afford this heavy load.

I haven't even gone into  the cost of education for illegal immigrants, both primary and college.

I'm still searching for the cost of federal grants for Illegal immigrants. (A lot of mixed information on this.)

The well-known argument for Illegal immigrants working in the United States, and gaining amnesty has been the taxes that are added to our economy each year.

The entire world is a mess, (as if that's some sort of secret,) but the facts are the facts...

If any one of us budgeted our own finances the way our government has for many many years, we would all be in deep trouble.


I have heard many say that "We are all Immigrants," though our families originated in other nations, people who arrived in the United States prior to 1935, came to the USA expecting to work hard and had to in order to build a new life. There were tedious records kept on new arrivals. I've done some genealogical research, and have found records of one side of my own family arriving here from Germany. My great-great grandfather was a farmer and he worked very hard to survive. The records on the other side go back to the Revolutionary war.

There was no such thing as welfare, food stamps, free medical care or free education. So those were not part of the motivation that drew them to the United States.

The majority of Americans are not against immigration when it's done legally. 

My own family is a mixture of European and Mexican heritage.
