Make Time For Self-Care - Getting Your Life Back in Shape
As a busy business owner, it's more challenging to make time for self-care than it is to constantly manage your to-do list. You might feel like you have to be everywhere, do all the things, meet deadlines, and do whatever, but you still have to prioritize doing the things that matter most to you. Making time for yourself is crucial to being successful. When you are self-employed or run your own business, making sure you are taking care of yourself often means finding the time to take care of your family as well.

Take a moment to think about how much time you typically spend during the week on chores, routines, and other activities that don't really help you grow as a person or add value to your life. Take a moment to think about how much time you spent on these daily tasks that do not enrich you. Chances are, you are not taking the time to create an amazing life for yourself and your family. Take a moment to think about the last time you did something that was beneficial to you. What do you typically do during the course of a typical day? Do you engage in a routine where you eat lunch at your workplace, drive to the doctor, fill your work shoes, get in your reading glasses, and get back to work before lunch is over? If you are like most of us, these typical activities take time and energy away from you in order to satisfy a pre-existing need to be busy. While you can certainly make time for these things, there are also many fun things you can do to recapture a bit of time and energy.

Taking care of oneself does not mean that one must fill his or her schedule with mundane activities such as eating, driving to appointments, or taking care of the sick. Instead, being self-care free requires one to have an attitude of appreciation for the little things in life. What were the first five minutes of your day when you had nothing else on your mind but them? How many phone calls did you make during this period? When you look back at this time, did you notice any enjoyment or fun, or did you perceive each phone call as a interruption?

By being happy with the little things in life, you are able to treat your time more effectively. In addition, being busy doesn't have to mean that you have to fill your days with a variety of activities. Instead, it is important to make time for the things you love, the things that bring you joy. By dedicating specific time each day to these activities, you allow yourself the luxury of being the person you want to be, breathing easy with less stress, and feeling fulfilled by who you are.

In order to find enjoyment in your daily routine, it may be helpful to create categories of activities for self-care. These could include fun things you can do around the house, a morning exercise routine, a change of lifestyle routine, and a special time to nurture relationships. Once you have determined what you want to accomplish from your time each day, you can make time for self-care by selecting one or a combination of items from your list each day. For example, if you love to cook, you can choose to prepare a meal, read a book, play a game, knit a sweater, or go to the library and read a non-fiction book. However, before you begin prioritizing your daily routine, make sure that you have the resources to accommodate the changes that you plan to make.

It is okay to slow down a bit from time to incorporate fun activities into your daily self-care routine. This can help you to get back into a regular habit of enjoying the little things in life. Sometimes, taking a break from the daily self-care routine will simply make the process of getting back into the swing of things easier. When you feel as though you are able to enjoy the little things again, you are more likely to put them back on your list for later in the day.
